Yes, but the over under is both better for absorbing recoil and aiming, however the lower one becomes more prone to heat saturation if in a rapid fire scenario. For simplicity/reliability however, the side by side is more desirable due to its more basic internals.
Having them side by side when you could stack vertically was maybe not the best choice.

telescoping is the way to go tbh
