The society anthem rocks but it is still a song for just one country. On the other hand the Internationale belongs to every revolutionary socialist movement in the world and it is in itself a condensed lesson on socialist theory.

There is a reason why the Internationale is the most recognised song worldwide. It has been sung at protests, at meetings, at picket lines, at funerals, at parties, and defiantly from prison cells and in front of execution pelotons for over 130 years. It has been translated into almost every language and has a universal timeless appeal to everyone who fights capitalism. It is by far the better song.

USSR hands down. While the lyrics might be better on the Internationale, USSR's melody is iconic and fucking slaps.

The melody of the Soviet anthem pretty much carries it and whilst it is a really fucking good melody, it shouldn't be the only thing that carries it, so The Internationale.

But the Soviet anthem definitely has the superior melody. Without question.
