Never heard of it so probably? Even if it's not, I'm sure it's as rapacious as Uber or Lyft or any other

Their front page says that you can hire a truck driver in 12 hours without an interview? Sounds like a great way to kill someone.

As far as the scam goes, there's probably no upfront bullshit about stealing your money or anything like that, although that could be the case once you try to sign up. The real scam is that they're taking a pool of multiple low-skilled* jobs and changing them into one-off gigs, further removing people from the labor protections that they would have if they were real employees.

Now the dishwasher at your restaurant is called in like a fucking Uber, works for 6 hours, gets paid minimum wage through an app, and is never seen again. No benefits, no protection, no reporting unsafe conditions, and ZERO chance of unionization.

*Low-skilled from the perspective of the employer. Obviously the quality of work will go down if you have a different person filling out the roster in your warehouse or department store every week, because those jobs do require a base of knowledge and skill that is built up over time, but you'll refuse to recognize that and just offload the lost profits onto the workers and consumers by further reducing benefits and increasing prices.
