Working eternally with nothing to guarantee your rights as a worker... Is it also really hot in heaven?

I'm disturbed. The Bible routinely describes Heaven as a place of rest, a place to finally recover from whatever struggles we have in life. Why oh why would anyone want to go to a factory when they die? Dante's hell is more fun than this

Isn't the whole point of heaven supposed to be a utopia that encourages you to be a good person on earth to guarantee your spot? If heaven is just more work, what incentive do I have to better myself here on earth?

If heaven is real capitalists sure as shit ain't fucking going to it

As someone who was raised Catholic I always found it fucking insane that the most ghoulish, demented people always insist that they're going to be the ones who are saved, you've literally spent your ENTIRE life doing the opposite of what Jesus would have done

sometimes I still have the religious ideas in the back of my head and I legit sometimes feel like if there is a God, then climate change and coronavirus are genuinely divine punishment for the transgressions of the ruling class since no amount of money is going to spare them from the former and the latter can actually fuck them up if it gets bad enough

There is actually a biblical scholarly debate over the "camel through the eye of a needle" passage. Whether it means that it refers to a literal camel or a very thick rope for ships that had a very similar Hebrew word to the word for "camel". But it's mostly a joke debate, because whether it's either one, it still means the same thing: It's impossible.

maybe late stage capitalism (the environmental/health conditions we now live in) is a sign the ruling class lost the "mandate of heaven"? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandate_of_Heaven

exactly. The outcome is suffering no matter what, that's worse than no afterlife at all.

How about if hell is actually heaven? It's where the party, music, sexy people and drugs are. Heaven is controlled by the right-wing and it's much like earth except it never ends and it's bigger. It's an infinity of concrete, SUVs, McMansions, and golf courses.

I remember a short story about heaven and hell where hell was a luxurious looking gated community filled with mansions while heaven was a free pasture.

        Edit - here's the story. https://www.schnauzers-rule.com/man-dog-heaven.html

If there's an afterlife - I really want to go to hell. Thousands of years of human garbage endlessly proclaiming how wonderful and perfect heaven is - gives me serious doubts.

Fixed my error. Hell was gated community, heaven was pasture with the idea that the popular idea of heaven is the illusion of wealth and decadence when that's really empty, especially in the afterlife.

I was never a fan of the popular idea heaven because it seemed so spiteful. The people you don't like suffer forever and you get to gloat with god. I had existential dread about someone I care about not making it to heaven and being unable to tell if god replaced them with a clone to keep me content and ignorant of their suffering.

Heaven is were those who wished to see happiness for their fellow human beings, put in the effort, and made sure what they were doing was actually good will go after they die, in my opinion.

The gnostics believed that Yahwe was a pretender who created the imperfect corporeal realm, and that the true God was not so cruel, but that the Catholics had been duped into worshipping yahweh as God himself

You can decide if they were right

You’re right. There won’t be any government regulations on work in heaven because heaven is a classless, stateless, moneyless society.

You can do what you enjoy forever if you so choose. Isn’t that a wonderful idea?
