"able to pursue economic growth" = able to be slaves to US hegemony and global Capital. :amerikkka: twitter link I hope to see PLA ships as close to the US mainland as the US sends it's ships to China. :arm-L::xi-beard::arm-R:

Judging by the comments, i's wild just how high Americans are on their own supply even after our state-of-the-art military got knocked on its ass by the Taliban. I think there's an element of anxiety here and many of us are coping with the fact that our one source of national "pride" may not have much to boast about it.

People are never exposed to what modern China actually is. Most Americans think of the China of 40 years ago in their minds if they understand it at all. Propaganda works.

People in the US have ZERO clue what time it is. They think they're dealing with the Soviet Union circa 1975 just more alien and otherized because they're not white, and the US will just roll over any threat.

Well to be fair it would be the army that would mainly be blamed for that.

The navy pretty much is spotless since all they do is fuck around the ocean in their boats. But I guess when you don't do anything, you earn the right to be arrogant about never loosing.

Well as long as you don't count their ships crashing and getting lost multiple times a year

Those are simple training accidents, that are usually kept on the down low to not draw attention to the massive costs of keeping the tunafish tin can fleets floating, not war losses.

There's a bitter debate in military academia over whether carriers can still function against an equal enemy, given that guided missile technology just keeps getting better. And both sides have their points, but the missile people are right, so don't expect that spotless record to survive into any war.

It's not just a "spotless record" that's at risk. War games with the US carrier fleet in a war near Taiwan/the South China Sea have a very similar outcome to the famous "Millennium Challenge" with Iran - Yanqui goes home to Hell

It's gonna stay a bitter debate since the navy neanderthals would like to not get fucking owned and keep their proud record of never loosing (by never fighting)

The Navy is far from spotless. Like every large carrier or battleship is regularly a year behind on scheduled maintenance. Our navy is only good against small nations that don't have military power to defend themselves.

It's as spotless as the driven snow because you can only have a spotless record if you never fight :think-about-it:

What the fuck is wrong with this country

(Yes ofc it's a settler colonial capital-imperialist estate but... How the fuck do we make it stop??)

The south china sea shit is such an empty threat even if china never built another ship. You'd just get showered with ballistic missiles from the mainland trying anything.

Reading the comments of jingoistic US chuds and liberals alike, who still somehow thing they can play Billy Badass after just watching our military eat shit in Afghanistan, we just cannot and will not learn in this country. And all the dipshit comments "oh can your crappy MADE IN CHINA warships even get that far?" while probably more than half the shit in their house is made in China and works as fine as anything else.

We're gonna have a Goebbels moment.

Week 2 "How can these savages put up such resistance?"

Week 4 "We have completely underestimated Chinese forces."

If it even goes that far I'd be shocked. Probably just sabre-rattling to justify a new money-sink to replace Afghanistan.

Yanquis would go apeshit if the PLA began fucking around in warships near US shores and there would be nothing they could do about it.
