Yes. And locally I'm agreeing with a line I saw in this article that we need to get more people to their second shot in the US before we go with the booster. Anyone seen the latest positive and death rates?
We're in the cool zone, headed toward the freezer.
That'd for sure be the best thing to do with all of the spare doses. My worry is they'll mostly just sit around and go to waste though.
It's not about antibody count, it's about breakthrough infections.
Decreased antibody count does not necessarily indicate decreased immunity. The FDA is making the right choice here by prioritizing doses for the unvaccinated.
Bullshit. Vaccines are getting thrown away because chud brainlets don’t want to get their shots. Why stop people who want protection from getting it just so they can toss more doses in the trash?
For fuck’s sake, I am so tired of the “choose your own adventure” pandemic.
At this point I think the Biden whitehouse has capitulated on getting covid under control. Or rather, they're going to do a bunch of half-hearted measures without expending any political capital because they can't give the impression that they've totally given up. But now they get to do the same thing the republicans were already doing, which is imply that only the "bad" people are getting Covid.
Chuds and low income groups will continue to die, but liberals will pretend it's just chuds and feel fine about it. The momentum feels like it's gone.
It’s gonna take a nasty escape variant that makes the line gone back down for them to do anything of significance.
Until then Biden is going to continue to meet the crisis much like this.
@ThrowawayJabroni can you provide a source here? Good discussion in the comments, but needs to have the source of the info.
Edit: NPR article on the FDA approval below.
https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2021/09/17/1038374005/experts-advising-fda-vote-against-pfizer-covid-booster
Headline in the URL focuses on the vote against boosters in general, but NPR has since changed it to “Experts Advise FDA To Authorize Pfizer COVID Booster For People 65 And Older”. Better choice in my opinion.
No problem. Could you please also update your post to mention they did approve it for people 65 and older or at high risk of severe COVID-19?
Totally agree with the rest of your post and your point that democrats are fucking this up yet again.
Does that mean an American who wants a booster couldn't get one?
if you go stand around at the pharmacy near the end of the day, they'll probably give you a shot if there are leftovers in a package they're going to have to toss.
Wouldn't that be illegal? Couldn't they lose their pharmacy privileges by using their medicine in a way that the FDA has not approved?
Does this mean more supply for first shots for the rest of the world? The WHO was calling for a pause on booster shots
What's everyone's thoughts on getting revaxxed? Thinking about going to the next city over and getting another set of shots if they're gonna fuck around with this bullshit.
I know some health care workers who have already gotten their booster. If the shots are going to go to waste anyway I may go ahead and get a booster at my 8-month mark.
That's what I'm thinking but I'm also worried there might be a negative health impact of getting the vaccine again after such a short time. Idk shit about vaccines so I'm clueless about these things.
No research on that as far as I’m aware. This isn’t medical advice, but I doubt it would be a problem.
on the plus side this means those booster shots that would be given to american can be sent to places that desperately need them for now.
and hey if they decide in a couple months to do booster shots, i am sure most of the people who already got vaccinated will get it, and mostly just the idiots that are already against getting vaccinated will be the ones not getting the booster. but if anything it will just mean a few more dumb chuds will die.
