Tbh all court appearances should be either voice only or even text only. You have no reason to need to see my face, and all seeing my face does is make it more likely I’ll be discriminated against for something other than the facts of the case.
Nooo you don't understand, they ask all the jury if they are racist and they say no. There's no way they could discriminate based on appearance.
I remember watching a TV show where they could guess the outcome of real electoral contests based on how well the people conformed to cultural appearance standards (how "good looking" the candidates were) just based on a photo.

The court is such a hollowed and respectful institution and deserves the utmost professionalism. It makes sure to return that level of respect and professionalism to jurors who are called to serve it by paying them roughly a ninth of minimum wage.
Judges and prosecutors are the most insecure control freaks imaginable. They LOVE catching people in a random technicality and destroying their lives over it. It's what gets them up in the morning.
