Edit - This is just a video of BadEmpanada dunking on cringe Xanderhal/Vaush takes. Not an attempt to start a new struggle session.

On point. If you have the time to watch a twitch streamer ramble on, you probably have time to buy beans and rice.

My "not trying to create any controversy" t-shirt is raising questions already answered by the t-shirt :dril:

As a meat eater, yes, I know veganism is totally correct and I'm a fucking baby. Just give me some time

I held this position for years before I was a vegetarian about vegetarianism, then for years as a vegetarian about veganism before becoming a vegan.

I think vegans sometimes trivialize the labour required to make a change like this. Being vegan does make your life harder, and requires an non-zero amount of effort to do properly. Sometimes people need to wait until they're in a place where they have a little extra in the tank to take on something new.

Title: This opinion is objectively correct. If you have other opinion: Go fuck yourself.

"I'm not trying to pick a fight with anyone you guuyyyzzz."

Dude, if you're looking to start shit, at least have spine enough to own up to it instead of doing the passive-aggressive/obviously fake "Oh gee whiz, did I do that?" thing. It's embarrassing.

yeah no kidding. i don't disagree that veganism is morally the right thing but it's actually not easy to just flip over to that lifestyle overnight when you've been raised to expect to consume animal products every day in a society which is often actively hostile to not doing so. being called a baby over that isn't particularly motivating or helpful. i'm trying to do better.

FWIW if you watch the video it's he's not calling you a baby, he's calling meat eaters who feel like they desperately need to defend their choices as ethically correct babies. He eats meat as well.

I am vegan and this video is good but vegans on this site acting like individual consumption choices make a difference or make you a fake comrade are a joke. Go vegan. Or don't. Either way all I give a shit about are if you are anti capitalism, anti imperialism, and pro liberation for all.

      pro liberation for all

If you're pro liberation for all but not vegan, you're not pro liberation for all, just as you can't be a feminist while beating your spouse

There isn't a massive global wife beating industry. There IS a massive global meat industry however. That is our enemy, not individuals who for whatever reason are not vegan at this moment.

There isn’t a massive global wife beating industry

because it's not an industry it's ok?

how can I trust someone wants to fight the massive global meat industry when they can't be bothered to eat beans instead of corpses?

Through that meat industry though there are huge financial subsidies on meat products such that eating dirt-cheap meat is often more affordable, huge advertisement campaigns resulting in personal and social pressures to consume meat, meat becoming commonly understood to be a default staple in meals through the industry's influence on nutrition education, eating vegetarian or vegan at a restaurant/conference/meeting etc. having severely limited options, etc. etc.

There are far more external factors prompting your consumption of meat than beating your spouse. I agree that veganism is a crucial part of liberation, but you can't expect all comrades to be perfect - they still operate within the confines of capitalism, much like the climate activist with a car. Yes I know driving a car is different to eating animal bodies, but lot of ideological work has been done to separate consumption of meat from the consumption of corpses harvested through mechanized genocide.

Some comrades will come early to this mindset, some late, but you can't dismiss people who are clearly trying to understand liberation for not being perfect instruments of it, they're still learning and they always will be, and they're on the right path too. Help them.

        CW: domestic violence

What is it with just putting comparisons out this in the wild with no content warning or anything? Just right out of the gate comparing someone to a wife beater because they don't agree with your specific line of thought. Just immediately with the domestic violence comparisons. Every. Single. Time.

This is 100% true, and I've been trying and partially succeeding in cutting out animal products from my life as much as I can recently. But like:

Not an attempt to start a new struggle session.

    If you gotta specify it...

Yeah, part of it's easy because, like, I'm just eating what my college dining hall is serving, and they always got at least some vegan stuff available. This will all change once I get home to my folks, but for now I do what I can.

This is such a good video and I now like BadEmpanada.

We all live with some moral contradictions. If you really don’t want to be vegan, than fine, just be honest with yourself that you have a contradiction there.

Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.

“as far as is possible and practicable” is a big ol’ part of that definition. Veganism is a pretty darn acceptin’ and flexible perspective if you’re willing to try.

That’s also why leftist vegans get pretty fed up with pissy carnists because this stuff is easier to understand and pick up than most other socialist concepts.

Anywhoosers try out a vegan meal and see how easy it is. Or don’t. We all live in contradictions every day.

A better world is possible. I won’t even ask ya to blow up a fur farm yet.

    :vegan-liberation:

Well yeah it's the morally correct position for most. This video is right on that

But your last paragraph of your post is going to start shit, no question. Already seeing the typical users that only exclusively comment on posts like this

Paragraph removed now. So let's just keep the comments on topic on the video

At the end of the day this is probably a big nothing burger, BadEmpanada made a twitch clip with a provocative title about veganism to make people argue in the comments/share the video and drive user engagement metrics. He is a based communist but first and foremost a small business owner, and has been clear about this in the past.

Anyone of influence who uses anglo moralist language about an issue on social media is fundamentally trying to manipulate an emotional knee-jerk response from the audience. Whether it is for monetary gain or a greater social good (if that even exists) is up for debate, but this is clearly an example of the former.
