if you exhibit any kind of conscience, the game is going to hard read you as a communist immediately. if you want to see any of the content for the other ideologies, you need to really get into the headspace of a cop, really embrace your inner psycho. or have fun, tell landlords to get fucked, fail all your rolls, go flying while throwing a double bird, and live out of a cardboard box for the whole game. it's the first game I've ever played where you're genuinely roleplaying. do what's fun for you - it's more tabletop than it is videogame. it's more fun to fail rolls imo than to succeed them. you get to see more of the wackier shit that way, outside of a couple uber specific story critical instances. do not under any circumstances apologize to everyone. we all did it the first time but it's a mistake. take your literal and figurative shots.

ask yourself: would a cop do child murder because he's mad the kids said mean things to him? why yes, yes he would. pull the trigger, Harry.

just roll with it an don't worry about "succeeding". failing a roll can be fun and memorable and there are times when even succeeding a check might be the "bad" result

Don't be afraid of the crazier options. Remember how much your character has fucked up the case before the game even begins and consider that you will not lock yourself out of any content by keeping that behavior up. And be nice to Kim.

any dialogue option that starts with "wait" or "hold on" never progresses the conversation, they're just opportunities for you to pick up more information or get a joke or something - sometimes you do have to worry about cocking up dialogue choices, but those particular options are never a risk.

also, you have a key that highlights interactable objects. use it liberally and click on everything.

Characters in the game have their own agendas and can lie to you. You get to decide who you trust.

I had low phys my first run but rolled a crit on punching the nazi, so satisfying since I was expecting to get my ass handed to me.

I really want to get into the game but I just don't have the mental energy to play for very long

Approach it like reading a book really

You're vastly overestimating my ability to play games nowadays. There are times when I merely think about playing something and enter into a weird existential dread.

same here. i can enjoy it vicariously though others though. it's on my retirement list seems like a good game to play when 70 or 80+ and not working (lol yeah doubt that's ever going to happen tho)

there are other video games! but everyone has to complete this one before we can talk about them. it's called democratic centralism.
