short-sighted analysis based in emotion rather than any critical thought process. the pseudo-fascistic government we have in charge here is going to be salivating at the thought of all the nasty bills they can pass clamping down on dissent with this as an excuse. and this Tory bastard will be replaced by another just like him, possibly worse, with a bolstered majority to boot. socialism isn't furthered by random lone wolf acts of violence.

They were just gonna do that eventually anyway. If it wasn't this, it would've been for something else in the probably not too distant future.

So fuck it, I'm celebrating this dead asshole.

I was holding my crabs in just in case, but:

      • Reducing welfare for the poor and disabled
      • Gutting the NHS
      • Reducing taxes on the rich
      • Ignoring climate change
      • Supporting war
      • Against immigration and asylum
      • Against equal rights for LGBTQ

      So...

As a result of COVID-19, some MPs have been less able to vote in Parliament, and this will be reflected in their voting record.

i don't give a shit about this Weinstein-defending bastard getting some consequences for the past decade of his party's governance, but this is absolutely going to be weaponised to bring in yet more authoritarian legislature and attack the left. even if the person who did it ends up being a far-right shithead, they're already at it trying to blame Rayner for this with her "Tory scum" comments a few weeks ago. as a trans comrade in the UK i'm just worried that this is going to give more leeway for the government to drive us further into a fascist state where dissent gets you locked up for a decade or worse. lone wolf stabbings don't actually achieve shit in terms of building socialism, maybe let's think a bit more critically about the potential consequences of this rather than getting the crabs out.

:astronaut-1: Always is, almost always is, always have been.

Bourgeois parties hardly need an excuse to attack the left, so when they're given one, they go wild.

You're absolutely right about the coming reaction. There will be a reaction, and it will be focused on the people who are least prepared to defend themselves (because fascists would rather pluck the legs off of spiders than fight fair). You're also right about adventurism. It is often counterproductive. Edpecially in a society where the media is dominated so completely by the bourgeoisie. The propaganda of the deed rarely (though not never) accomplishes as much as the resulting bourgeois blood libel.

That said, we need to be careful about blaming whoever did this for the backlash which follows. The backlash is the fault of nobody but the people giving and carrying out the orders. The worse the backlash is, the more justified the original assassination probably was. Collective punishment was a cornerstone of the Holocaust. Collective punishment is not the prescription for lone wolf terror attacks.

If this is an actual case of left adventurism we should emphasize that these actions indirectly impact millions of lives. This is not a fucking game. Liberals treat politics like a game. We know better. On the other hand, we're staring at societal collapse on the horizon and spontaneous shit like this is only going to become more common.

      attack the left

Could easily turn out to be bullshit, but I read that it's a british national of somalian heritage. So I'd imagine this will just play into Tory immigration rhetoric rather than any real left-right fighting.
