But these times the kids are not forced to work. Instead they are given innovative career opportunities that they accept out of their own free will.

Also, being allowed to work gives children the opportunity to help their families out of debt, help their families live in an apartment instead of a car or pay for medication. The woke tankie left would rather have that these children went without all of these things.

If you're not raising one kid as an investment to pay for your other kids' futures, you're not being a lionmom. A lionmom has to be prepared to eat her cubs.

The market's ability to coerce has gotten much more abstract then it was then. It creates need and you have to come up with sacrifices to it, rather than having them be demanded of you.

We also killed and committed mass sabotage. Capital doesn't give a fuck until an organized movement with clear demands directs violence and destruction at them.

All worker protections are relics of a time when workers had power. They'll go back to the gilded age the second their profits demand it.

I worked in a locally owned restaurant for these past 2 years, turnover has gotten so bad they are hiring elderly family and their friend's 15 year-olds. It's literally the end of the 3rd Reich out there

      12 year olds.

Then cut any state funding for retirement care for those over 75.

The 65 year olds need their Outback Steakhouse Bloomin Onions NOW.

I know that a lot of the high school.kids at my job are doing it for the "treats". I would say at least a couple are doing it to cover up weed dealing money from their parents. Honestly, as school funding starts going to shit and after school stuff goes away and there are no community centers, high school friend groups get jobs so they can hang out together.

I guess that's all a long way of saying that we don't have to force kids to work. We just have to make it look like fun and make sure it's the only thing to do after school. We have had 15 year olds disappointed that we don't hire under 16. They wanna be like their friends who work and can buy shiny stuff.

[insert that boring ass passage from capital volume 1 where Marx spends pages and pages outlining the absolutely awful working conditions and hours that children endured in England in the first half of the 19th century here]
