Welcome to the average worker in rural America. Wants a union but think Biden is communist. Flies Nazi flags.

I can’t speak for rural America but this has been my experience in the suburbs, except they constantly performatively shit on unions despite seeking union jobs. They rationalize it by claiming they deserve the benefits because they are one of the few people that actually work hard and everyone else is just a lazy moocher, especially if they’re a member of a marginalized group. But! They’re not racist or homophobic or anything because they have a token coworker who is very polite and well-spoken and nods along when they say that George Floyd was a tragedy but BLM is just too violent and extreme, so how dare anyone say they are a bigot?

I want a meatball sub that is also low-fat, doesn't have tomato sauce, meat or cheese and also makes my breath smell like bakery fresh cinnamon buns

Its fun to shit on them, but the left really needs to get better at reaching this kind of people. The politically uneducated sweat-of-my-brow peeps are an infinite well of leftist support

No just a cursory browse of that thread and you see a lot of them revealing they're middle managers, their relatives are landlords, or they're very obviously elderly boomer retirees shaking their fists at their favorite straw communist stereotype.

/r/conservative became the hub of the Trump cult after T_D and the Qanon subs shut down, they're not genuinely "apolitical" working people who self-identify as libertarians, these are the petty bourgeois strata and retirees who still love Trump and are disconnected from anything resembling reality

I don't disagree, but reddit is still an excellent place to test and spread talking points

This kind of person has an immediate stink of brainworms so the only method to reach them would be direct aid methods or organizing a workplace. They're not going to respond to rhetoric because they're deep in the sinkhole of weird American conservative delusions.

The people who are more easily reached are the completely unaffiliated who only know they hate their job. They outnumber politically minded people like 3 to 1.

Is a hammer personal or private property? It's certainly a means of production, if you are a skilled craftsman you can use that to make yourself wealthier than others, so it's "private" property. But then you can't put up some bloody shelves without submitting a requisition form to get the rusty PoS communal hammer in 6 months.

    these dorks are a trip

workers rights are anti-capitalist in that it restricts the liberty of the owner of the means of production... so yes, as it is anti-liberty of the owner it is anti-capitalist. However, an economy not captured by the government and the people who buy politicians means that you are also free to leave and there will be a maximal competition for your labor.

so maximal competition for buying politicians is not to be mentioned I guess ... so close yet so far

What no conception of private property does to a mf

Also in this hypothetical economy not captured by the government and "the people who buy politicians" who exactly is supposed to be competing for my labor? fuckin Martians...other workers? :wut:

as we know, the demand for labor is solely determined by government regulation, not by any real economic conditions or cycles.

the competition for your labor thing should immediately fall flat with just a basic understanding of ratios

there are way, way more workers than there are capitalists, so the advantage is in the capitalist's favor. They have hundreds of workers to choose from at any moment. I can only choose like 4 or 5 different businesses to work for because I'm limited by where I live, what my qualifications are, and what I wanna do with my life. Capitalist just needs to wave a paycheck in the air and people line up.

I wish there was a sub for workers' rights that isn't so anti-capitalist, anti-cop, anti-landlord. Maybe if they understood economics and US money policy better they'd fight to get back on the gold standard

Theres a wide range of actually helpful material changes you could advocate for that would help workers, instead this absolute nerd choses to complain about not having the gold standard any more.

Also, what the fuck is with that thread? It looks like it’s either being astroturfed by commies or there’s a lot of chuds in there who almost get it.

theres a lot of chuds in there who almost get it deluding themselves

People who self-identify as conservatives and glorify Reagan while claiming to be pro-workers' rights are full of shit and are just trying to get in on the "hardworking independent salt-of-the-earth" aesthetic, aka "Real America"
