i can't seem to help it, especially in this intro to sociology class. am i being short sighted for clearly displaying familiarity with, and affection for, marx? like..what happens to these discussion posts, and our papers for that matter? where do they go? do the capitalists get them?

Maybe the professor will disagree with you and that could affect your mark if your arguments aren't well-made (I definitely mark right wingers down, but that's generally because their arguments are so bad - genuinely, they're usually just not very bright). Could also work the other way if your prof is a comrade, I'm definitely looking for excuses to give my left wing students as good a grade as I can justify. Nothing else will happen and there is zero chance that the paper will be read by anyone but your prof and maybe a second examiner if its chosen for moderation.

If you're making calls for violence or something, there's an outside chance that you could get reported to anti-terrorist authorities (in the UK at least there's a legal requirement for teachers to report this stuff to Prevent, but whether people do idk. These reporting systems are widely considered to be racist because they are pretty much designed to target Muslims). But you should know better than to do that in a university online forum anyway

The smart ones are smart enough to write a good leftwing argument. They don't disagree with materialism, they are just ok with being the "bad guy" because it benefits them.

Haha, I had a baby thumb as a student one time. This was during covid so I never had to interact with the guy, but he sure did have a thin blue line flag right behind him whenever he was on Zoom. At the end of the semester he was right on the line between a B and a C and I would have given him the C, just for being a chud, but unfortunately, I'd given a few other borderline cases the higher grade, so my teaching supervisor was like, why not bump this guy's grade up too? And I could hardly say, umm, he's a blue lives matter fuckhead, so he ended up with a B. If I hadn't been a grad student though, baby thumb would have gotten a C because of my ideological biases. And that should be unprofessional and shitty, but I honestly can't find the energy to care. Don't put a hate flag up behind where you're sitting on Zoom, shithead.

Damn, yeah, marking is so much worse when you have someone moderating every paper. I remember my first year teaching and it took fucking forever. When you no longer have someone over your shoulder, sometimes you just have to follow your heart and give a chud the lower grade. I've fortunately not had too many in my classes (or at least not vocal ones), although I did have one student that I thought was sound suddenly out themselves in class as a generation identitare loser, which sucked
