      His lecture series "The Story of Human Language" is a really good intro to the subject (at least to lay person like me). But whenever I've listened to him opine about politics and cultural issues, he's always talks a big game about how society should be egalitarian, but then go off on how black kids need to pull up their pants.

      Actually a decent read; the provocative title thing is certainly doing it's share of the heavy lift there. Main point of contention is that he is conflating "the left" and liberals to the point where they are inseparable and of course he is because "the left" essentially means nothing at this point, same as progressive. That and his description of cancelling people goes into the "well we can disagree and still be agreeable" bs we all know and love.
