Obama is such a genuinely disgusting, vile person. It's the constant facade he keeps up which makes him so.....gross. You can see the mask slip when he was genuinely belly laughing at Mike Gravel delivering an anti war speech at some event.

At the very least Trump was openly a deranged freak......people like Obama honestly scare me WAY more because of how they're completely psychos but the mask of civility is almost always on....it's fucking creepy, like do they know they're evil and in their head they're plotting all this shit or is that act you see actually who they are and they do all this evil shit thinking No This Is Good

Most likely a heavy overlap between the two. IIRC, Obama rationalized a lot of the terrible things he did in his autobiography as 'necessary', but he also simultaneously realized that what he was perpetrating were deeply evil acts; he just did them anyway.

    Let's paddle the canoe together

    :michael-laugh:

Holy fucking shit. Imagine that! Imagine the US treating the world with that sort of shared collective purpose. These motherfuckers will tell us "We're all in the same boat" when that boat is a trireme being rowed by slaves. They'll fancy themselves enterprising too. Small business boaters.

"Paddle, everybody, paddle!..." - he says from his mansion. "I'll be padding with you on my Peloton..." After he ends the stream - Obama puts his feet up and starts sipping from his $600 bottle of wine. He's alone and as he looks out his huge windows on the fantastic view to himself he says "I'll be paddling with you on my Peloton. Haha - I am hilarious. I kill me."

Think of Obama as a rock band.

When they were president they put out albums the libs said were fantastic. In lib-speak that means Obama moved a fucking ton of units. But then - as often happens - the band peaked and they stopped giving a shit. They got old, fat, and lazy. They keep putting out albums and sometimes they go on tour. They libs keep buying the albums and going to the concerts but no energy, creativity, or passion in the music. In their heart of hearts - libs know this but they pretend otherwise: "The band is just as good as ever - you haters!"

honestly in a lot of ways obama feels like a much more smug person than trump to me lol.

I guess that's more because Trump is smug like a child is smug -- they don't notice the snot hanging from their nose. But Obama on the other hand, is smug like your prick boss is smug, he gives you some platitude and pats you on the shoulder while wearing this 'genuine' or 'sympathetic' grin on his face that somehow just comes off as 'shit-eating' to you as your brain turns everything he says into white noise to protect your fragile sanity.

Actually they're similar -- horseshoe theory

I can tell you why I hate Obama more than Trump.

For me this "canoe" quote is Obama in a nutshell. He recites a folksy platitude from lib-friendly old culture about a typical Obama-friendly topic: unity. Sure yeah great whatever - unity is needed. But he localized a nightmarish global crisis with his we can work it out verbiage that's so sweet-sounding to the libs. He hypnotizes them with this shit.

Hawaii is a remote island and it could get mauled by climate change. What must be done is action on a worldwide scale. Working together in Hawaii will not do a fucking thing if the climate is going haywire. Obama is not a right-wing nut. He knows this. But he pretends otherwise.

Trump isn't some kind of enigma. He is openly hateful, spiteful, racist, vile, and... I could go on an on. And I hold Trump personally responsible for 100,000s of covid deaths. As awful as that is - people who are honest, introspective, and have a working brain know that.

Trumpism has gone way beyond Trump. I think it's a danger to American democracy and if it's not stopped - it will lead to fascism. But how can we stop it when the democrats are Obamaism cultists? In other words - they think civility, the discourse, bipartisanship, and instrumentalism will save the day.

Obama is an empty suit, a liar and a phony. He's a snake oil salesman who promised change but never, ever planned to do much of anything other than have centrist administration for the entirety of his presidency. Obama is a corporatist, a militarist, a neoliberal anti-labor, and people like him are a gigantic impediment of democrats actually dealing with the issues we must face if all Americans are going to prosper and if modern civilization is going to continue and not be destroyed by climate change.

Libs who are honest, introspective, and have a working brain refuse to acknowledge how bad Obama is or even who he really is. If we try to explain this to them - they usually tune us out. It makes me insane.

Real seething hatred is usually reserved for people who are or were closer to you. Works the same way for political “family”.

It also works this way for music. Adam Neely has a video about how he can’t stand contemporary Christian worship music because he grew up on gospel. He says that a lot of people hate on Nickelback because they exist in a kind of uncanny valley between rock an country. Me personally, I can’t stand a lot of stuff that combines metalcore or djent guitar tones without various bits and pieces of mumble rap or trap drums. I’ve heard stuff I like and stuff I don’t, but I don’t like it I really don’t like it

Ran on "hope and change" and failed massively to deliver. It's like someone who reaches down to help you up then shoves you back down is a bigger asshole than just someone who straight up hits you.

“It’s a little like, sometimes you go to Wall Street, and folks will be grumbling about anti-business, and I say, ‘Have you checked where your stocks were when I came into office and where they are now? What are you complaining about?’” he said.

“Just say thank you, please,” Mr. Obama said.

I'm pretty sure it's not actually that important for people in a canoe to row at the same time or in the same direction. If you want to move forward you're going to have to row both directions either way, it doesn't really matter whether you do one direction and then the other, or both at once
