It was pretty cool. Preferred the first half over the second, definitely. It had such a fun portrayal of Asian-American life. The action was obviously great. The acting was incredible. I fell in love with like six different characters so that was cool. Loved the homages to classic asian cinema (and subversion of tropes). Overall, certainly the most fun I’ve had with a marvel movie (same as Spider-Man). Some flaws but overall time well spent.
Saying you like a marvel movie is a bold strategy cotton. Let’s see how it plays out for them.

The bus fight scene was phenomenal. Overall I enjoyed the movie a lot, but its third act was too standard Marvel.
Yeah, the story would've worked a lot better as a personal family drama that didn't have world ending stakes. Plus the action waa always better the more grounded it was.
It's definitely made my list of top marvel movies. The first half was one of the best martial arts films I've seen in years.
I loved the characters. I have a bunch of ABC friends and they seemed spot on.
It's pretty good slop. The fight scenes and martial artistry were definitely the highlight for me. Lot's of Jackie Chan references too, and I probably didn't even catch them all.
But holy shit, how many car brands can you shove into the face of an audience before it becomes just a car commercial with a marvel skin - there is soo much highly prominent product placement, especially in the San Francisco setting, it's insane. I enjoyed both the first and second halves. I've been learning quite a bit bit about Chinese mythology and wushu novels and was actually pleasantly surprised the attention to detail the movie dweebs paid with all of the mythological animals and shit they stuffed in. Made me really appreciate how they didn't westernize the shit out of it like they usually do with mythological shit.

I'm not to familiar with the older stuff since I've literally only scratched the surface of the wuxia world, but I've been reading a good wuxia junk food web novel called "Legend of the Great Sage by 说梦者 who says he draws a lot of inspiration from the legend of Condor heroes series and water margin. I've mainly enjoyed it since the author and translator not only do a decent job with the story arcs but also include citations for many of their references so you can learn what shit means when characters say them like when the author references some character in water margin by name you also get a link to see who that is and why they're famously referenced for stuff. Also it helped me learn a bunch of dumb Chinese insults towards Buddhists that would make zero sense to us but the good author includes a simple explanation to understand why you'd call a wandering Buddhist monk a "bald ass"
It’s unfortunate that the protagonist parroted something his grandparents said about the Great Leap Forward or something and was thus blacklisted from Chinese cinemas, if the guy had kept quiet it would have taken China by storm

It doesn’t help matters that this was before China started to crack down on “effeminate” male leads; a lot of people in China actually didn’t like how the main character looked because he wasn’t soft and light skinned. (A tan means manual labor over there)
