I imagine Dersh is somewhere emphatically explaining he kept his underwear on during all visits to Epstein

Yesterday Alan Dershowitz went on Fox News and said that his accusers are all supporters of Hamas.

Some site with a name like CourtToText.com should exist because PDFs are the devil.

      ---

[Edit. Much better would be if there was a law that any court PDF had to have a .txt version too.]

I think the only issue with a txt version would come down to not being able to view the items that aren't actually regular text (scans of originals and the ability to see stuff that was handwritten or whatever) or images. Of course most of the docs will be just text, but it would be easy to lose information. What is your main issue with them being in PDF?

pdf2text and tesseract, i believe pdf2text uses tesseract. i have them installed on an apple silicon mac with homebrew (e.g. brew install tesseract or brew install pdf2text)

could probably use some ai computer vision package (i haven't checked, i remember looking around before settling on pdf2text) like opencv.

when i used pdf2text it was with pdf slides my prof provided, they ONLY gave pdfs. something about copyright and IP. super interesting prof, great scientist, great researcher, actually a member of some cool orgs like Linnaeus Society, and annoying with her lecture files.

EDIT: if anyone wants it enough i can try to do a proof-of-concept for like ~15 random pages of a random doc and see how well it goes

Idk, does anyone else feel totally burned out on the Epstein thing? A little bit of it for me is just how much the right has embraced it. But the much bigger thing for me is, I feel like I can kinda see it all and no matter what, no one is gonna face any justice and nothing will change. Epstein himself is dead. Honestly, we could have incontrovertible evidence of Clinton and Trump doing horrific thing and their defenders will defend them and haters will gloat (but not actually be outraged), and that’s all.

I think it’s obvious that Epstein was working with intelligence services (CIA and Mossad at a minimum) to get leverage on powerful people for them. That’s the long and short of it. But no one other than a few of us on the left care about this angle. Frankly, even if we could show how deeply the intelligence services were involved in all this, would anyone actually care?

The universal immediate response from both sides of "just because they had a long documented relationship with Epstein at a time everybody knew he was the pedo sex island guy doesn't mean they did anything wrong" has been the most exhausting part.

Like sure, it's not a log book for the sex dungeon but anybody on that list should be viewed with extreme skepticism unless they come up with a very good, very detailed, very corroborated explanation for what they were doing.

      Very burnt out.

      CW: suicide

Especially with the whole "Epstein didn't kill himself" thing. Epstein was being held in one of the shittiest jails in New York. There were like 5 guards for 750 inmates, sewage regularly came up into the place, it was rat infested, security footage regularly lapsed. He was being treated like any other criminal in New York, his life was entirely over and he had lost the control he had built over decades. He was either silent and took the fall for the entire operation, or started talking and got a shit plea and assassination. Why wouldn't he kill himself?
