He certainly helped, I don't know enough to say whether he was essential to the process or only slightly impacted the process
His idea was to split the Sino-Soviet alliance (which had been broken a decade before) and lure China away from Marxism and ontothe capitalist road. Until 1989, it looked like it was working. Then China put a stop to it, permanently. In the 90s, it was the neoliberals like Bill Clinton who saw what a fucking fortune was to be made, and ruin the American working class at the same time by putting them in competition with slave labor. Hard to compete when China is selling at retail for less than the cost of production in America.
Does anyone here know if Kissinger feels normal human emotions, such as pride? Because if I was him I would probably have a certain amount of professional pride in my work in bringing China closer to the US, and away from the Soviet Union. But the question remains if he even thinks about that type of shit, since he seems entirely demonic in everything I have seen from him.
