Chinese domestic spending is healthy for the binge they went on in 2020. Tons of consumer goods were sold in 2020 in China from the covid sales - which blew out the inventory at firesale prices - before the supply shortages began. The average Chinese middle class family is saving their money now because they already have most of the shit they want.

Endless insatiable consumption does not a healthy economy make.

The only way for every Chinese citizen to have as big a yard as an American is for China to invade America and do acutal white genocide.

I wonder how much gets spent on advertising, medicine, and transportation in WV that contributes to GDP.

GDP is a shitty number that doesn't reflect quality of life.

Merely adjusting for Purchase Power Parity, Shanghai has almost the same GDP per capita as West Virginia (it's like 10% lower). That's not even getting into the facts of American life that you mentioned - "healthcare", adverts, mandatory cat ownership - that make everyone miserable but also inflate the GDP.

He's referring to the median, which is what gets reported by BLS. But the silent part and why he felt the need to post this is Beijing's median has almost caught up to WV, and I'm not sure how likely it is for the wage growth to stop.

Wow you're right, per capita income refers to the average. I assumed he meant median because the average is so famously a useless measure for income that I didn't think anyone used it anymore.

I often wonder if it got introduced by someone who was half awake in their statistics class and got the misunderstanding that all real world things are normally distributed, and normally distributed things have the mean and median coincide.

State averages are also inflated compared to individual towns. The GDP per capita in WV is undoubtedly inflates by Pittsburgh/DC commuters in the Wheeling and Martin's Ferry area as well as the disgusting chemical valley near Charleston. "Per Capita income" in a random WV town is almost certainly quite a bit lower than Shanghai (purchasing power parity), and that doesn't even count the multitude of scams that you have to participate in to live in America which inflate our GDP.

I remember this loser trying to argue that China was preparing to invade its neighbors because they decided to deemphasize GDP per capita as part of their development goals.

    Terminal neolib brain.

Omg lmao. That reminds me I managed to spill some tea in my new pricy mechanical keyboard and some of the keys didn't work. Got super lucky that air drying it for a day fixed it, would've been an expensive hand gesture otherwise.

Honestly doesn't sound like it tastes awful (in small amounts ) but my god that is an unflattering picture. The bacon looks like soggy cabbage.

Matter of taste I suppose, sweet + salty + nutty is a good combo so I'd be willing to give it a try. Like I said though, not with that soggy ass looking bacon, give me the near-carbonized crispy stuff.

You know what, I’ve never tried it before nor have I tried any dish with an unusual combination of bacon and something else like bacon icecream or whatever.

pbj’s are some of my favorite things in the world, so adding bacon to it just sounds like sacrilege to me. But i haven’t tried it, could be great for all I know. Just not the biggest fan of bacon.

Yeah I get it, bacon is kinda a meme and so is bacon + random shit. But I already know I like it with certain sweet breakfast things like jelly or maple syrup, so I'd try one more step removed :shrug-outta-hecks:

People in Shanghai have dense infrastructure. People in West Virginia have to tend suicidal grass and drive miles to reach anything useful.

I can't believe they build so many monuments. Monuments that cars drive on, monuments in the form of parks and public works, monuments for people to live In.

In america we build infrastructure like jails, police stations and spikes to prevent people from using public spaces.

China needs to get it's priorities straight.
