nothing on reddit quite gets my goat like that place. not even politicalcompassmemes. because they're just So Fucking Angery about shit that doesn't even matter and they're unable to interpret any information in a way that doesn't validate their anger and even when it's something you'd think they'd have a halfway reasonable perspective on, like a shitty publisher that makes shitty games treating their employees like shit their natural impulse to be as spiteful and ugly and stupid as a person can be pushes them to side against the workers. they're so fucking reactionary in every sense and they don't even have the brain cell and a half necessary to realize it. all anyone ever has to do to refute the notion that video games have been a net good for society is point to these guys.

I remember visiting it several years back and thinking it was hilarious because I thought it was one of those meta circle jerk subs where everyone is just doing a bit, then eventually it hit me that they were serious and I honestly laughed even harder

      They're so pathetic

There is indeed a form of hypermasculine ideal that becomes so sexually desirable that they lose all desire to have sex and focus on being at the top of all dominance hierarchies. I think it was popular at one point in Germany. Maybe Italy too I can’t remember

As someone who remembers KIA since the start, I'm genuinely amazed they found a way to make the sub like 3x worse. It's like if someone dug a really big hole, "no way they can keep going", and you come back in a few years and they're suddenly at the center of the Earth.

all the gullible people who actually swallowed the "ethics in game jouranlism" meme eventually caught on and left. it's just the burnt grease at the bottom of the pan now.

I always found the "Ethics in Games Journalism" thing incredible bc most games "Journalism" was either directly funded by publishers or relied heavily on gifts and freebies from publishers. It was always bullshit but it was such brazen bullshit that it was breathtaking.

These chuds concluded that manly Mad Men men would just focus on making good games.

Back in 2010, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick told investors/analsysts at a tech conference that his goal "was to take all the fun out of making video games."

I remember when Jeremy Soule was outed as a

    cw:sv

    r*pist

and the thread on r/gaming had takes such as:

Women in the workplace were a mistake.

And that's what springs into my mind when someone says "Gamer" now.

Honestly that is the type of content we expect from a view into the brains of Reddit's brightest.
