in cold places you wear hats to keep your head warm; it's like a sassy beanie
Distinguishes you from the other troops as someone who can probably do burpees and throw knives
burpees
That's a great exercise but I cannot adequately put into words how much I hate it.
Forgotten arms ( or whatever his channel is called) made a funny ass video where he read comments from a video where he called bolt action rifles obsolete and all the people whose gun experience comes from video games had a meltdown

I mean it genuinely depends on the situation and tool. The development of firearms has relegated bolt action rifles from their general purpose primary arms role to specialized roles, much like smgs, crossbows, and anti-material rifles and so on and so forth.
But that's being pedantic.
If precision is more important than followup shots (which it rarely ever is), well bolt actions are much cheaper to do that compared to semi-autos. They suppress better too. Quieter and no gas blowback.
You also don't have to do anything with it. Just wake up and throw a hat on.
Tuba players wear them because the tuba gets in the way of their regular shakos
Was in military, was in swamps and deserts and Germany. Beret bad.
Pile cap when cold, patrol cap for the rest.
