Someone at my family Christmas gathering tested positive despite the vaccine and so I immediately packed up to go home and quarantine. My mom came running out to tell me about the latest CDC guidance in an attempt to keep me at the house and it made me so irrationally mad. I apologized for snapping at her, but goddamn. So far deaths aren't to bad, probably because 0.5% of the whole countries population has died of COVID 19 when taking excess deaths into account. (Equivalent would be 1.65 million deaths in the USA, where the death count is around 1 million when taking excess deaths into account). When I got home from work yesterday I was wondering when they were going to do this. Since everyone is treating the pandemic as over, and omicron as just a cold, they're not going to want government mandated time off for workers. Come to work if you're sick, spread it even more, get everyone sick.
