The new variant has traversed the planet in a single month, stunning experts. But uncertainty remains over whether it is less serious for unvaccinated people and the immunocompromised
Awesome. Glad to be having my first child born in the next like 15 days. Surely this won't affect anything, including my unvaccinated wife. Everything is totally normal here.
Thank you, comrade. She has agreed to be vaccinated immediately after delivery so our baby can get those antibodies from breastfeeding. Its the getting to that point bit that's looking scary now.
But here in the south that's called "living in fear" as some sort of satanic communist psychopath
I don't know if this is helpful but there are two styles of masks that will do a better job protecting her, especially at the hospital:
KN95 masks. The Max Planck Institute found that they make one of the best seals, including vs. standard N95s. These are also fairly comfortable and come in ear-loop and strap-around-the-head styles. I prefer the latter for long-term wearing, they're very comfortable.
Silicone 3M respirators with P100 disc filters. Get the gray and orange kind that don't have a filterless exhalation port because otherwise you'll (reasonably) get told to wear something else in a hospital. This is slightly more comfortable in terms of skin contact and makes a better seal but is heavier.
Please let me know if I can be more descriptive, if this is helpful. It's a scary time to go to a hospital
