The Beatles into communists, but only after their popularity is a forgone conclusion. Maybe that could be a counterpoint to the red scare shit that was happening at the time.

I wish Metallica transitioned into being out and out communist. They were always heavily anti-imperialist and their influence was absolutely massive, to have a band like that be commie might have made a difference to millions of Amerikkkans

Yep. Ride the Lightning is a flawless album from start to finish.

Speaking of old Metallica I'm glad Mustaine got off drugs and alcohol but he also didn't need to turn into some weird proto-chud religious nut. So maybe I'd go back in time and tell him to take it easy on the jack daniels and read some materialist history after he puts down that copy of Johnny Get Your Gun.

Master of Puppets too. Shit, despite what some say, Metallica has multiple legendary tier releases.

High school me loved Mustaine as an artist but I just can’t with him anymore cause he’s such a chud.

Did they have any sort of outspoken ideology beyond whatever implications proletarian-branded hedonism carries?

Get Josh Homme to stop being a libertarian. Queens of the Stone Age is already good, imagine it with a communist at the helm.

Imagine Homme turning some of his libertarian rants/screeds, like I'm designer, Better Living through chemistry, Kalopsia, etc into leftist ones.

Just to be clear I absolutely love all the songs mentioned still, they're some of favourites ever.

Just get him to do even more drugs what's the worst that can happen, right?

Just to be clear this is a joke, the man has done enough shit already for multiple lifetimes.

Honestly maybe getting sober might be the solution lol.

Yeah, I could be misremembering but I think much-mentioned-in-this-thread (rightly so) Rush eased up a little on the Ayn Rand shit when they started doing less coke lmao

Yeah Rise Against is straight edge and probably the most politically coherent active mainstream band today. Their recommended reading list straight up has. Frantz Fanon and Chomsky on it, along with the Shock doctrine and a people's history of the United States.

Their new album opened up with a audio clip of the internationale as well.

Pantera into Socialists. That is an excellent band, particuarly after they recruited Anselmo. Problem is that they're all chuds, the likes of "I'll make white supremacist comments" and "I'll play the guitar with the flag of the Confederacy in it".

They're still one of my favorite bands, few metal bands sound as good and powerful as them. It's a shame they're little fascist pigs.. well at least those who still live.

When you learn a musician is an :ancap-good: is really ruins a ton of lyrics lol.

Take these lyrics from Queens of the Stone Age, I'm Designer

      My generation’s for sale.
      Beats a steady job.
How much have you got? My generation don’t trust no one.
      It's hard to blame.
      Not even ourselves

High and mighty you say selling out is a shame.
Is that the name of your book?

You’re insulted you can’t be bought or sold.
      Translation offer too low.
You don’t know what you’re worth.
      It isn’t much.
      My piano's for sale.
How many times must I sell myself.
      Before my pieces are gone.

Sounds like the one based gen xer critical of the rest of gen x and the music industry, turns out it's actually an incoherent libertarian rant.

Still like the band and the song though lol.

He calls himself a "classical liberal" but then goes on Gavin McGuiness' show and then doubles down when called out on it, so idk what to call him. Other than a dumbass.
