It's such a weird thing to be upset about. Nazi punks were an actual subculture, this is just making up a tankie to be mad at.

would love for Sasha to describe for us what "tankie" means :wonka-listening:

The punk scene isn't against authority and never has been, it's against a very specific authority and the whole point is being very cool with actually using violent authority to get its goals. Punks are not non-violent.

Imagine being punk and being like "I would kick Angelic Upstarts out of the punk scene" lmao.

Pretty sure trying to pull something like that at a punk show would get your ass kicked.

The guy who wrote "nazi punks fuck off" also endorsed Liz Warren for president if we have to discuss this

And the band he left is full on Biden libs

Believe me, no one is more disappointed than I am

Jello has been a lib since the start. Punk is libs or literal anarkiddies. Some grow up to be The Good Anarchists. None have read a fucking word of theory ever choosing instead song lyrics written by a 15 year old in 1982

Bit of a time lag between the first and second statement.

Also, Bernie was ready to endorse Warren back in '16. Warren had plenty of appeal on the Left before she eroded it away Kamala Harris style.

Jello endorsed Warren in 2020, well after she had already displayed herself as the hollow ghoul she is

Tank Punk would be a cool genre

also I feel like punk politics just leads to "anarchists" like the drummer or whatever from Choking Victim breaking random women's arms and throwing them down stairs

Physically ejecting everyone you decide is "authoritarian" isn't self-defense. Is the presence of a """tankie punk""" going to harm this person? I think this person is a kid, based on the tweet.

Using the "authoritarian" definition the original tweet probably uses , yeah i agree that self defense isnt necesserily "authoritarian" but historicaly and currently the vast majority of self defense struggles against imperialism, colonialism and domestic reaction (and even state power) in large numbers and scales (and chances of success) didnt organize along non-hierarchical manners, didnt avoid using "authoriatian" measures and aimed to implement change when and if they win by "authoritarian" ways

I guess this is skirting the line about sectarianism but aren't you literally like a trot or something? You're not that far off the "authoritarian" scale to the people who use tankie in earnest.

Does anyone even know that Tankie is a reference to the 56 uprising in Hungary?
