I can't say no to Bibi.
Oh God I just realized if they're going to deport Palestinian Americans they'd have to deport them back to their home country, thereby actually literally returning Palestinians home. Maybe Trump is on to something!
Lol. So he wants to illegally expell US citizens, who can then immediately return to the country. I know he's just trying to play it up for his base, but holy shit they can't be so braindead that they believe it would actually happen...right?
Yes, I'm not saying it couldn't happen. But it is (on paper) against federal law and would probably cause a shit storm
Also let's be honest here, there probably won't be much pushback from liberals who'll be too happy that they're being proven right and will be going 'told ya so!' to (most assuredly) Palestinian Americans/Muslim Americans who are being deported for opposing genocide.
They'll just call them Hamas supporters to justify it all. Didn't want to be deported? Shouldn't have supported Hamas then.
What I still don’t understand about this, even though I know it happened, is how do you deport someone to a country they’re not from? Is being deported just a free ticket to any country? If I find the nearest ICE agent and say “Oui oui honhonhon baguette, please deport me” does that get me free entry to France?
Like, many Americans may not know this, especially the government, but other countries do have immigration laws of their own. I can’t comprehend why Mexico doesn’t go “Hey you can’t just drop off random US citizens in our country”
Well Mexico obviously didn't have much say in it, they are completely vassalized and without sovereignty to just accept millions of people being population transferred onto them.
Presumably the same way they stop anyone else who isn’t allowed to enter from doing so; Border checkpoints, patrols, surveillance, and deporting people back to where they came from (the United States)
Like don’t get me wrong, I don’t think literally any level of border security should exist for any country, and I think every member of the US border patrol and ICE should be summarily executed. But “how do we stop unregistered entries” is not a new question for countries.
If they decide to ship the person back to the US, the US can ship them back to Mexico. And the US can keep it going indefinitely because they’re are sadistic animals with infinite money whereas Mexico will eventually give in.
If Mexico somehow continues, the US will just shop that person to an even weaker country who won’t bother sending them back. Or they’ll just ship them to Iraq and let you die from the lack of insulin.
If Mexico somehow continues, the US will just shop that person to an even weaker country who won’t bother sending them back
And when this did happen in the past Mexico mostly just did that part themselves “Oh you’re not supposed to be here either, we’ll send you to an even poorer country”
I was kind of wondering whether or not other countries not wanting to play ball would make the ploy just create a population of people stuck in airports for eighteen years like Mehran Karimi Nasseri.
The USA also deported anarchists and communists who were American citizens early on in the red scare IIRC.
Did you cure it using illegal imported drugs from Cuba lie to customs, and bypass the US pharma racket? That's a paddlin'
If this was applied it would just be a way of silencing international students/faculty who support Palestine on campuses and to a lesser extent other people on visas. Do people not remember the last Muslim ban? He would totally do something like this. I don't why you start off your comment with "Lol" have you never met someone on a visa or an international student. Someone like him would gladly start sicking ICE on pro Palestine students without citizenship. I'm honestly baffled on the level of joking around in these comments. Like haha send me to China LOL, maybe just for a second think if this is not a joke to other people. I think it would be a travesty if something like this could happen.
CLIVE, Iowa, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Donald Trump promised on Monday that if elected president again he will bar immigrants who support Hamas from entering the U.S. and send officers to pro-Hamas protests to arrest and deport immigrants who publicly support the Palestinian militant group.
Trump, president from 2017-2021, said that if elected to a second White House term he will ban entry to the U.S. of anybody who does not believe in Israel's right to exist, and revoke the visas of foreign students who are "antisemitic."

Undoubtedly it's intended to target anyone in precarious citizenship situations. But aren't most people in those situations already going to lay low in the US? I'd assume most people agitating and protesting in any country are probably not on a visa.
In the case of an international student or professor from the middle east or anywhere else for that matter they are in a precarious situation being they only have a visa to study/teach, but that normally doesn't come along with the expectation that if they state their beliefs by as little as going to a protest they will be deported. That's a whole another level of precarity. And I would assume that in many cases students and faculty from abroad make up important segments of many US university movements/protests for Palestine. As they have unique experiences/insight that many people who never leave the US don't have/develop.
This is the type of thing that keeps his supporters and fellow racists happy. Biden can do all the dogwhistles and war-mongering genocidal campaigns he wants. They'll always see him as soft because he has a D next to his name.
This is anecdotal, but none of the Trump types in my life care at all about Israel or Palestine. Most had never heard of them. The conservative vibe I get is they don't want any interaction with other countries, including cooperation with Israel. They want the US completely closed off, like Japan or Paraguay used to be.
Most telling of all, I'm in a bunch of reactionary Facebook groups to keep up with them. Like the types with middle aged suburban dads. Hardly any of them talk about Hamas. Their current thing is fearmongering about immigrants from the southern border again. It's in half of their memes or angry grandma posts.
They want the US completely closed off, like Japan or Paraguay used to be.
This crowd are probably more dangerous to the US' continued global dominance than we are lmao.
Isolationism has historically had more success in the United States than the Communists have in regard to affecting U.S policy
Same experience as me. The younger ones that I've spoken to are more frustrated with their tax dollars going to Israel. The Neoliberal Dems are the ones getting rock-hard from the Israel-Palestine war.
But Trump saying something like this still wins them over because he mentions the word "deported" and that's all they need to hear to like it.
Edit: Tbf right-wingers and Trump types I know are more aware of Israel and Palestine than the average is because they live in an area with a large Jewish population.
yeah I was going to say this might be very geographic. Southern conservatives don't care about Israel unless they're a specific type of evangelical, but they care more about Israel as a spiritual concept rather than a country. Most of them have never interacted with a Jewish person or a Muslim. All they see are a big block of people who aren't Americans. Everyone outside of America is the same to them, foreigners to be avoided and never thought about.
Republican voters are something like 70-80% in support of Israel's actions and our support of Israel. It's much lower among Democrats, like 40%. Republicans are actually all pro-Israel freaks, it's just completely unanimous so they don't bicker about it like Democrats do. It seems like Neoliberals are more pro-Israel because they're the ones bickering with the left half of their party most openly, they are the left-punching disciplining arm and they are fulfilling their role.
A completely isolated and closed-off America is a vast improvement over the current America
Wonder if we can do a Trump is a disloyal Israel first not America first bit. The fear of his base seeing him as disloyal and cucked to another state might be enough to make the whole Israel topic toxic to the point he backs off....maybe.
One of the only real splits among American conservatives is how they feel about Israel and Jews, so this could maybe work
soft
I figured he was soft because he's 81, we keep getting to chose between two dudes with dementia. Definitely both should be representing the United States to the rest of the world
I feel like he could easily get away with just blustering like this and not lifting a finger to actually act on it and his supporters will still clap like trained seals. They just want to hear their grievances echoed back to them. If he does follow through, they'll cheer; if he doesn't then they'll about 'muh deep state' or something.
Trump will promise just about anything, but he has very little will to actually pursue policy. Either his base has to actively and repeatedly holler their support for something, like the wall; or some functionary in his administration has to do the work themselves. I don't know about this specifically. Maybe it's one of those things he just says and moves on, maybe this becomes a core policy position. It's really up in the air.
Oh. I'm so sorry. I think I've just lathed the worst outcome: He wins; the media cycle has moved on and nobody in his administration cares about this as a policy goal. Until. The Democrats very publicly and very loudly chastise young and moslem voters for his victory, and point to this specifically. Trump starts talking about it again... I'm sorry.
Good luck to him. I love hamas. I hamased twice on the way to this thread
China has a huge opportunity here...
If Xi promises citizenship, hey, that would be tempting
It would be funny if they built a containment city for all of the white people and made it look like a European city.
Oh no don't deport me to Vietnam which is a beautiful country that has a communist government and an expat community, noooooooooo
To the people joking around here just because you are a citizen and safe from this many people are not.

no one believes they're safe from this. we're under no illusions that an order like this wouldn't also target us - we're communists, the fascists always target us sooner rather than later. but it's better to laugh than to succumb to the call of the void. fascists are very funny people. laugh at their antics. it's cathartic.
tbh it seems more like a lot of people having a blindspot to people without permanent citizenship/residency, a very underrepresented and marginalized group to begin with. the statement is obviously targeted towards non citizens residing in the US.
The constitution is a piece of paper. If a sitting President decides to deport citizens nothing can stop them.
Seriously though, send me to Ireland and revoke my US citizenship. That's my end of life goal anyway, fuck this Western slough of a nation.
People itt very convinced that China for some reason would be willing to take them in
hope you're all microchip engineers or something
