On the one hand, the tensions/despair/hysteria/whatever seem very high in all the online spaces I go to right now. On the other, when people get desensitized by various horrors, the only way to make them react is come up with bigger horrors, on which soc and mass media thrive. I'm just wondering what's happening around you in the real world now? Is it the same? Is everything creaking at the seams as it feels? Like at work, or home, or school? Or is it just more of the same just at a higher pitch? Does it feel different or just more of the same?

Continually deteriorating material conditions mean pressure's building again after the summer 2020 release. Something's gonna give eventually and the longer it takes the bigger the bang

It's cold and there's nothing to do because it's cold. There's also less than usual to do because the covid surge has shut down most indoor events. Once the spring time comes, go outside. There's shit to do. Like yeah things are getting worse, but you can still have fun. Everyone just has brain worms cause winter sucks and it sucks harder with covid.

About half the people I know think the country is collapsing, and the other half are acting like everything went back to normal months ago

Got an email from my school district—survey asking if we should make masks optional(sent to CHUD parents as well as teachers). Next email of the day “We may have to return to temporary virtual school becuase of a bus driver shortage” DUE TO COVID OBVIOUSLY I’ve gotten 3 emails about bus drivers dying this year. Things are going well. :yea:

Lately we’ve been canceling some in-person meetings at work in favor of online meetings. More people I know irl are getting COVID than before. Groceries are more expensive and there’s always a shortage of pasta. That’s all I can think of that’s different compared to the last few months
