He does know that they're still alive right? Russia didn't brutally slaughter them or anything. Even the Ukrainian military admitted this.

They were sent home. Text says basically "the Snake Island defenders Zelensky said died in battle actually surrended and are fine. 82 of them will be going home once they sign a waiver not to participate in the war anymore.

The wavier bit is really funny to me fsr, polar opposite of fighting to the death must be signing some paperwork to live another day

That's how wars were fought back in the day. You make someone promise to not fight anymore and give them some kind of identifying mark. Then if you find them fighting again, you just kill 'em. It's cheaper than taking prisoners.

Who's going to tell him he literally got "Go to cock!" tattooed in red on his forearm?

LOL forgot about that one. That blog's been dead forever. It's still around though: http://hanzismatter.com/ People who got themselves tattooed in a language they don't understand.

Oh wait it's not around. The owner deleted the blog. That sucks. Looks like there's still a Flickr group but it's a pale shadow of the original. https://www.flickr.com/groups/hanzismatter/

The blog owner had such a wicked slice. How do people think getting permanent markings that they don't understand is a good idea? One lady got herself tattooed with "explosive diarrhea". Yes really.

I know a dude who wanted 挑戦 (challenge) tattooed on his arm in Japan. Dude went to the tattoo parlor, told him he wanted the kanji for "chousen", which is how the word is pronounced. So far so good, right?

Dude ended up proudly showing off his tattoo which said 朝鮮, which is also pronounced the same way, but means North Korea. Like, unambiguously the DPRK.

He was not pleased when I told him. The whole thing could have been avoided if he had just shown the kanji to the artist.

Why don't you just fly to Ukraine and volunteer?

I've talked to my wife about it and it did not go well.

I'm almost always a "people can get pretty much whatever tattooed who cares" person. Lord knows i have some awful tattoos.

I'll never have a tattoo this fucking stupid though.

Seeing literally the entire thread pile on him - even the liberal war hawks - was pretty satisfying, though.

    lmao :

    commenter: Do you speak Russian?

OP: Speak? No. Read proficiently/understand decently when spoken? Yes. I studied Russian and Ukrainian history in college. It’s been a personal passion of mine.

dammit, we need a "studied the blade" guy emoji.
