I'm genuinely baffled by any take that claims this site, which is a glorified reaction channel with cat emojis (which I enjoy don't get me wrong) is in any way remotely "edgy"

It's amazing, there really aren't that many old heads around who remember the first year of the old sub, we had a fuckin struggle session about whether Native Americans are "ethno-nationalists", and at the same time the rest of reddit was arguing whether Muslim men are genetically predisposed to sexually assaulting white women

There is no "edge" on this site, if you lost a debate in some dead thread, take your L's and move on, shit is not that serious

Early cth days a sizeable amount of the posters were basically V*ush.

I remember a woman posting a cool communist tattoo and majority of the comments were lê enlightened redditors thirsting over her and being gross. Thus the creation of the Volcel Police.

Chasers were rampant, remember the trans cutie threads? Full of them.

And yes people calling BIPOC nationalists for saying the racism must be reduced.

Cth pre 30k subscribers and stupid idpol split was not good.

this site is also a good mental health / support resource / social outlet for the comrades on here. We aren't launching the revolution from hexbear, but I don't think the site is pointless either. I've learned a lot here and found a lot of support and comfort.

Favorite site on the internet, the vibe here is genuinely rejuvenating instead of mind-numbing like on reddit

In our defense, this was before StupidPol split off from us, let the record show I blame them.....

To be honest I'm not really sure, that struggle session caused me to leave the sub for 10 months, by the time I came back StupidPol had split off and the sub had grown and became what we know and love

It was a big shock for me at the time, heard there was a huge purge sometime during those 10 months, but I never got specifics, honestly you can trace most of the bad feelings about the old sub to those purges so they must have been awesome

I'm so glad they overturned your ban like a year ago, along with a couple others.

I was piping up about how there were a bunch of names I recognized (30-ish) that were disappeared in a short period, a user told me off, I asked further and she told me "I count a bunch of reactionaries on that list, don't ever message me again".

Lol thanks for sticking up for me. I'm pretty sure the reason I got banned was because I called one mod a loser and that was all it took

There was one point where I was complaining about arbitrary banning (somewhat pragmatically), another user was making the same point bluntly, half a day later they were banned and I wasn't.

It feels like it has gotten better. If the same actuarial table had been applicable this whole time, we would have 17 users left on the site. Almost all the big decisions have turned out right, and most of the bans are for people being outright hostile.

Excuse me? I’M AT THE CUTTING EDGE OF EVERY DEBATE. I HAVE THE BEST TAKES THAT ARE BOTH INSIGHTFUL AND FUNNY. THE NEXT TIME YOU SUGGEST OTHERWISE WILL BE THE LAST TIME YOU COME BETWEEN ME AND WHAT IS MY DESTINY.

the only edge is that we want to [REDACTED] oppressors. compared to the usual discourse online of how many hours a day we should pleasure jeff bezos, this can feel edgy to some. I like saying I want to do things in Minecraft here without pushback. it feels good.

I've been Reddit-sober for so long now that I'd honestly forgotten what an absolute shit-show that site was.

I'm still a bit sore over my conflict with the ban-hammer in previous social media settings. Yes, I know its necessary from time to time, but I'm inevitably biased against it unless I see the full case laid out. There was a point on this site when people were being banned for controversial takes on veganism and... just... come the fuck on.

The website created in response to an irony poisoned subreddit being nixed, that was created as a fan subreddit for an irony poisoned podcast is irony poisoned?

Ok, I support the side that's good and right against the one that's bad and wrong.

I mean, yeah, I enjoy the humor, but I also have found myself learning plenty of theory from just reading comment threads and talking to people about it on the past year-ish I've been around (this isn't my first account, just my longest lasting one).

It is legitmately frustrating the amount of people who will respond to earnest posts with some variation of "lol you actually care about this" or "whatever shits boring pee pee poo poo."

But also I think most people using this site are deeply traumatized and have the misfortune of being aware that they're powerless captives of capital. So if they've got to use irony as a coping mechansim, it's understandable.
