    Liberals: "Putler is a fascist!"

Leftists: "He's clearly just an awful liberal like you lot."

Putin: "I like Harry Potter. I stan JK Rowling."

Looks like the left's correct again.

Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine follows the plot of his favorite author JK Rowling's books Harry Potter to a T! We're already at the last book and the final battle for Hogwarts, but we haven't destroyed all of Putin's Horcruxes yet!

very much doubt he even cares about this though. He's amoral. He's using this to appeal to Yankee conservatives innit

Yeah, there's no reason for Russian conservatives to care about American conservatives as if they're some sort of allies.

But riling up Yankee libs and appealing to Yankee conservatives does help grind the American ruling class gears against itself. That's the point

Wouldn't it be kind of similar to how American-style white nationalism is centred around groups they perceive as "white" and for Europeans it's more ethnicity specific and related to their historical and cultural context? It would be weird to compare a Russian or Ukrainian nationalist to an American "white = good, not-white = not good" conservative.

Putin is homophobic and transphobic, he might not give that much of a shit but there's no doubt he would see LGBT right as "western sins" or whatever conservatives call it.

The concept of critical support does not mean you ignore the various problems someone may have.

What was that Milo Edwards quote from a WTYP episode about the Kursk disaster? "What most Westeners don't understand, is that the Russian foreign policy is best understood as trolling. Whenever Putin makes a baffling declaration, just imagine him winking like the troll face".

It's not to get them on his side, it's to star a lib civil war. And honestly, gotta respect the hustle, this might work.

In context is even funnier. He goes from the bombing of Hirochima and Nagasaki to cancelling JK Rowling in one sentence.
