A Utopia that they're fast running to get as much oppression out of as possible before the 1st Solar Union Guards Division breaks down the bunker door.

DAE apply narrow understandings of disproven economic theories to their models of how the entire universe works?

The idea that they genuinely think DEUS = DEVS is somehow profound fills me with utter contempt. I hope whoever did all their hairplugs fitted some sort of brain frying device that will be set off at any moment and save us from this.

Its gonna be like that bit from Westworld where the guy pays for a service where he gets calls from his dead friend to keep him company.

I'm gonna log in to see a digital marionette of my long-dead grandmother doing the floss dance and it will sear my brain like a word from the mouth of Cthulu himself.

Incredibly low rez versions of my deceased father who can offer me the valuable wisdom I never got to receive growing up IRL.

Wisdom like "How to Save up to 10% on Car Insurance" and "Earn $5000 a week working from home!"

one of the best chapo bits from the last year was them riffing about NFTs being souls, and you could own the soul of John Candy, and maybe torture him for all time, or maybe have him for dinner.

yeah but this idea is a much harder sell. As it's a solution to a problem that doesn't even exist and that no one wants which also requires quick and large scale adoption in order to not be dead in the water rather than a solution no one wants to the problem of accessing the internet mobily which was something people did want to be able to do but prefered another solution.

This idea would require even boomers to get on board very quickly with an idea that they have a high degree of natural inertia for already added to the fact it's both stupid and crucially confusing. It's a non-starter

Given the way capitalists over promise and under deliver, I fully anticipate said Bazinga Brain just showing me an animated screenshot of me screaming in torment while trying to extort me to delete it.

i know it's supposed to be a really good and well made book but at what point does it go from "dystopian/horror" to "traumatizing the reader for no good reason"

because if there's a point i think it's crossed it tbh

good writing is good writing, i think you have to have a pretty unique neurotype for the horror of the scenes and such to be more unpleasant than the draw of the interest they generate and the quality of the book. i just happen to part of that neurotype :meow-coffee:

you don't need to apologize. 90% of people don't even consider it so even thinking of it puts you light years ahead of most
