Earlier this month, “Sorry to Bother You” director Boots Riley tweeted, “Art for arts [sic] sake is never for arts [sic] sake-it’s for the sake of the status quo. This is why the CIA funded Jackson Pollack [sic].” Set aside the vaguely totalitarian suggestion that art must, by its nature, exist either in support of or opposition to the political establishment.

Sic sic sic sic yeah we know it's a quoted tweet you condescending prick.

Also, how is it "totalitarian" to point out that art has a political component? I hate WaPo so much.

WaPo using words like "totalitarian" and "authoritarian" to describe random things like I would use seasoning in my cooking to emotionally spice up their article

Maybe we should start doing that...look how authoritarian it is that my surplus value is stolen

look how authoritarian it is that my boss steals my surplus value

look how authoritarian it is that insurance companies steal all of my money when i get sick

look how totalitarian it is that my landlord steals half my paycheck and the bank wont let me get a loan for a house that i cant afford to begin with

All I can.say is that nobody ever looked at a piece of soviet social realist art and said, "yeah, my six year old could do that."
