I've just started getting into Trueanon and was listening to the Bush Did 9/11 series. It's pretty common knowledge (around here anyway) that the ultrawealthy really do fucking run everything and shape the narrative such that they can keep doing so no matter how heinous the atrocities they commit. Absurd wealth really is absolute power. But it makes me wonder... what about the "new money"? As just one example, like Bill Gates. I know he's an evil capitalist motherfucker, but he wasn't among the powerful elite when he started out. Is there some point where people like him get "jumped in" to the violent gang that steers geopolitics? Does he know that Bush (and co.) really did do 9/11? Are even those who have the most wealth, at least ostensibly known to the public, kept in check by the power of those behind the 3 -letter agencies? Maybe this is a stupid question and I realize any answers will inevitably just have to be speculation, but I'm trying to wrap my head around this and would love to hear thoughts.

I don't think these kinds of things are organized to feel nefarious to the people inside them. It's more like these people all know each other from schools or family networks. In Bill Gates' case I think one of his parents helped the fledgling Microsoft get a lucrative contract doing something for IBM, which itself is a huge military contractor. So he does business globally and meets lots of people, and when he wants to do medicine "charity" things he knows someone who knows someone who can help, and make a great return on investment, he doesn't really care how.

And then one day he's approached by a g man after some rich guy party. He wants the foundation to cover for a project in Africa that's vital to national security. Bill is suspicious so he doesn't agree right away. He wants more details at a scheduled meeting next Tuesday, call his secretary. He's leaving to check out the private plane of one of his new friends from the party. A hedge fund guy in a Harvard sweater with two very young Bulgarian women hanging off his arms.

That all seems pretty reasonable for how it might work. But like listening to that Trueanon series on Bush Did 9/11, and how connected everything is, and how many people either knew ahead of time or knew after the fact that this mass murder (not even of foreign brown people, but white US citizens even!) was orchestrated and allowed to happen to further the interests and power of the elite, I can't help but wonder to what degree these people like Gates and Bezos know, if they "approve," or if they even care.

There is literally nothing that indicates that the ultra wealthy view the rest of humanity with anything but all consuming disgust and scorn. Of course they wouldn't care, we're like bugs to them.

Just look at the memos talking about Christian Smalls lol

Right, but I guess the question is... was that how Gates/Bezos always saw the rest of humanity and never would have gotten where they were if they didn't start off that way? Or was it something that developed. Again, does Gates know about how 9/11 was an "inside job" to benefit his cohort? Is he in full knowledge of all this other shit that goes down and ok with it? Turn a blind eye? Because "new money" were people not too dissimilar from us in terms of class at one point.

Who knows? Listening to Behind The Bastards episodes on both of those freaks it's clear that they were always tremendous jerks. Bill's mom had to tell him to shut the fuck up a few times at dinner as a kid just because of how snarky and pedantic he was. Of course, I would say their prejudices stem from the antagonisms of class society in that they were from wealthy families to begin with, and their increasing success just emboldened their already callous attitudes.

We can only ever speculate the degree to which these people collude and how much knowledge they have of their going-ons. Judging from how Bill reacted to being asked about Epsteins death I would say a lot of them do know about some of the sketchier shit. Again, it's all just speculation.

Also new money are absolutely not "not that far removed from us", pretty much all of these people had connections the average person in no way has

I doubt there's a single centralized messageboard that the rich get read into once they cross a certain threshold. They can do their own plotting among their own factions, they probably suspect each other of things and some probably do tell each other shady secret shit but I imagine (1) the kid fucking blackmail operation keeps everyone important quiet to protect themselves (2) they don't usually care enough to interfere in each other's plans, or they can usually resolve disputes by sharing some of the loot

Yeah I do wonder how close a lot of capitalists are to CIA coups and stuff like that these days. I think I read something in that "Bay of Piglets" thing where some mercs got caught in Venezuela, supposedly some executive of Kraft-Heinz was "helping out" with that or whatever. Probably in a sort of Marco Rubio "ooh I wanna help do a CIA coup too!" kinda way. But I wonder if people like Bezos are "into that", since they are more indirectly (ie less directly) tied to imperial extraction. Amazon obviously has CIA contracts and stuff like that, but how many capitalists are working directly with the government on projects using their money and stuff?

Defeat of a dirty military incursion into Venezuela on a Sunday morning

The plot for a small invasion in 2019 that unraveled is now well-documented by Joshua Goodman of the Associated Press. That plot was led by Jordan Goudreau, who served in the U.S. Army as a medic in Iraq and Afghanistan and then became a private security contractor; he worked with Cliver Alcalá, a former Venezuelan military officer, who brought together a few hundred Venezuelan military deserters to conduct the raid. Alcalá is now in prison in the United States for his involvement in the drug trade. Goudreau and Alcalá were backed by Trump’s bodyguard Keith Schiller and Roen Kraft of Kraft Foods. The entire operation sniffs of a madcap CIA adventure, akin to the 1961 CIA failed invasion of Cuba at Playa Girón.

Yes. This. This is the kind of shit I’m trying to get at despite my obvious ignorance. Have there ever been any instances where “new money” big players who weren’t initially part of the abject horror show of vast human misery, either were reluctant to be onboard with it, actually went against it (and were probably taken out), or if they for the most part are all just “yep, that’s how it works, that’s ok with me!”

I think they get told at some point that they'll be destroyed by the corporate media machine if they don't follow the line.

I also believe that they're also introduced to a lot of shady shit (think Epstein's island). "You're like the rest of us now and if we go down you do too."

Of course I'm just speculating here

That does make sense and would be my guess too. Just further evidence that only cowards or the truly evil ever make it to that level of wealth.

conspiracies may exist or not, but their behavior is always guided by living under capitalism. you can't be a capitalist against capitalism, so why would old money have a problem with new money?

It's not that old money would have a problem with new money so much as that new money might have a problem with old. Like seriously, Bill Gates is a piece of shit, but does he really know the insane atrocities that old money has been committing all along? I just wonder how new money comes to fit in with the truly horrendous shit that they presumably didn't know about when they used to just be part of the cattle herd.

No idea. I just started learning about a lot of this disgusting depravity. If that's true, I actually can see the dark and putrid humor in it.
I also totally agree that to even beginning to amass that kind of wealth necessitates that you are either evil already or willing to become evil to play the game up at that level.

I don't think anything coordinated needs to happen. The "violent gang that steers geopolitics" does it to protect and increase their power and wealth. "New money" has the exact same incentive.

While I’m sure the elites look down their nose at people who make a few million, but I think the amount of evil shit you need to do to become a billionaire proves you’re part of the club.
