i share a house with 3 guys and i can tell the one has come home because when he takes off his workboots the entire house smells like rotting dogshit in an abandoned waste treatment facility for 3 hr+ how do i broach this subject with him cause im in a room complete opposite of his and it eventually wafts in here somehow and idk how to stop it i light candles and spray good smelling shit into the air but it is a losing battle he works really hard and i dont want to bother him but fuck man it stinks so bad any tips and tricks that u could share with me ? thanks :
you could trick them into stepping in a puddle, that may be a kind of washing
we live next to a public pool maybe i can lure him into it by leaving a trail of his favorite treats leading into it
"hey dude your boots are kinda smelly mind leaving them outside, no biggie but yeah its pretty ripe lol"
If you make it like a lighthearted joke kinda thing they'll be less likely to take it personally. Depends on the person but yeah.
I used to get really bad smelly feet even though I was showering / changing socks every day then I realized I needed to scrub the dead skin off my feet with one of those pumice stones or whatever and it helped a ton.
The boots are prob a lost cause if they're that bad. Can try to deodorize but it will come back pretty quick unless they can be deep cleaned somehow.
i think he like just got new boots from his work too so maybe that will help if he figures it out fast but yeah i gotta do something about this idk. its prob just a showering thing but thats hard to enforce as a 2nd party u know?
Antibacterial bars are magic for issues like this.
Buy the cheapest ones they have and just leave them in the shower. He probably won't even notice and start using them.
get some strong industrial deodoriser spray and spray it in them boots.. uh ask him to do so. assuming the dude bathes a lot of the problem's gotta be the boots
Buy him some charcoal deoderizers and threaten his life is he doesn't use them
Just be direct and state the problem, it's good to ask him about solutions.
yeah thats probably the best bet ngl but the guy who said use a gun has a point i think
Tell them to either not smell like a landfill or leave their boots outside.
Fr: just give a door knock and be like "yo dawg, hate to tell ya but your boots snell like a hog rendering plant when you take them off and I can smell that shit in my room. Please remedy that situation"
My dad had a serious foot odor problem. Then he started washing his feet in the shower using Hibiclens, aka chlorhexidine gluconate. This stuff cut through the foot fungus in a way nothing else he had ever tried could do.
Monetize your suffering by renting your room to feet fetishist when the smelly dude is around.

I think that people living together should have an outside-ish space for shoes. I keep mine right inside the front door, far away from my kitchen and sleep areas.
Also being direct is totally fine. It's an awesome quality, but you're probably a too nice person in many situations.
