Yanis is always so close to having a 100% good take but always falls short. He just can't get completely rid of his liberalism.

I still like him because I like his economic lectures but yeah he's always gonna be a dud politically.

Hitler should really phase out the Swastika, it gives ammo to his opponents that he's a Nazi.

      They tried the impossible.

Ask the Greek population: "Do you want to stay in the EU?" You get an overwhelming yes.

Ask the same population:" Do you want austerity?" You get an overwhelming no.

Then go to the EU and say "please less austerity" and Schäuble says :bugs-no: They could have had a referendum along the lines: Stay in Eu accept austerity vs. Leave EU (might end up in economic collapse and austerity anyway).

You can't build socialism in Greece alone militants might have failed more spectacular after leaving the EU. It is a small country with bad demographics.

Now I think they should have been honest and realistic about the options and hopefully barely missed a victory in the polls and then build up a strong worker resistance against austerity to increase class conciousness. If they had to accept a government position they should have had a realistic referendum. EU with no austerity was an inherend contradiction. Ask for popular support for a bold experiment and try your best.

Ask the Greek population: “Do you want to stay in the EU?” You get an overwhelming yes.

No you wont lmao. You will get Yes in the 50s% . The refferendum back then basicaly ended up being framed framed as a NO means Grexit vs Staying in Europe and Euro and No won . Of course in a clear question of leaving the EU it would be the opposite but still i really really dont see any way where "Yes to the EU" gets more than 60% in recent years and back then

Also dont whitewash Syriza that easily. However they were pressured by the circumstances they pretty happily anded up governing like Neoliberals and in coalition a solid to far right "populist" party
