Could it be that these kids are literally being followed by adults with cameras on them at all times? Could it be that they're walking through cities where people don't drive ford f15,000s 30 mph over the speed limit?
No, it must be because japan is "homogenized" and makes pedo porn
Lmao bullshit, lock up the parents for reckless endangerment and being too fuckin lazy to do their damn shopping
Or maybe it's a good thing that parents can trust their kids to be autonomous within reason and not worry about kidnappings and murders.
In a Socialist society everyone should be able to go to the shops by themselves without fear, no matter how young or old they are.
Tasking your 4 year old to buy anything more complicated than a treat for themselves is neglectful parenting, full stop.
If you're barely old enough to write your own name, how the hell are you going to know how to pick out some good vegetables.
I mean it seems to work for them so there is a synthesis to be found
TV shows don't count
From where I am from there is still some element of communal child watching. It isn't uncommon in a general scale

That's getting a little idealistic

Most people. In fact there is quite a lot of doubt that such things exist.
Where the fuck did you grow up?
I have a friend from India who used to just run around for hours in his village when he was like 5 years old, and that included going to the store. Why are people finding this so shocking? Very sheltered worldview tbh
When I would stay in france with french relatives I have vivid memories as a 5 to 8 year old child of being sent to the bakery in Paris. They would give me a list and I would hand it over, that may be the case for these kids too.
Or maybe appropriate parenting depends on material and social conditions so a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't make sense.
Also, a 4 year old probably isn't going to pick out the best apples in the bunch but if you're trying to maximize your apples per yen you're probably not sending your kids out to do shit.
Maybe you want to colonize these savage Japanese islands and show them the proper way to parent? You'd be doing them a favor right?
Seriously, you don't know everything.
Agreed. Maybe a bit older than from what I can tell is in this highly contrived and controlled Reality Show. Just cause like, toddlers are basically baby ducks.
Reality shows aren't actually real yo. There's a bigass camera crew around them and a pretty good chance their parents are even there off camera.
I am dying on this hill, even if it's a cardboard cutout prop for sitcom
I sure as hell wouldn't want to work with a child actor if I didn't have the parents near by for morale purposes.
There usually legally needs to be a parent or guardian that the parent has signed those responsibilities to on set in the first place
That's how Vic Morrow and those two kids were killed on the set of Twilight Zone: The Movie. Working at 10pm at night with no supervision. Heck, Heather O'Rourke, that platinum blonde little girl who was the star of 'Poltergeist' died of a bizarre intestinal infection with no history of bowel problems. She was routinely left alone on the set all day with Hollywood adults who we know today sexually abused children like Corey Feldman.
