Disney just up and leaving would be painful, but probably not a disaster. De Santis and his people could well be making the calculus that Disney have enough sunk cost in WDW to just take this, and/or that there's plenty of other theme parks, tourist shit in general, and the boost from Chuds treating it like a mecca (similar to Texas' "growth explosion") that would make up for it over time.

        Disney just up and leaving

I think it would cost way more to pack up and leave than they're losing if they have to start paying taxes. Plus they can almost certainly turn public sentiment against the Florida legislature by raising prices and claiming they have to do it because of the taxes.

Ah the oldest trick in the book. I love when restaurants passively-aggressively post a sign or print out on their receipt that they had to add a surcharge because of some local tax.

Eh, I guess disney won’t raise too much fuss over it, although moving out of florida makes sense in general due to climate shit, so they can shop around for some tax breaks. :shrug-outta-hecks:

But where would they move to? Can't go too far north because then they'd have to have an off-season, can't move to Texas because it's run by the same weirdos, can't move to California because there's already a Disneyland there, can't really move to another Southern state because most of those states don't have the infrastructure needed for such a massive tourist destination. Not a lot of options

If you believe this is the only reason they’re doing it and not justification, sure. But “it” is grabbing a massive amount of $ for FL

It as in what? Florida attracting more reactionaries? Or disney not paying taxes?
