What I wonder though, is why are we (French) so invested in the current Lebanese situation, compared to say, Libya's or Mali's. The country has no oil, no mineral resources, is a powderkeg, and is already the playground of powers far more implemented than we are now.
The only valid reason I see is to avoid another civil war that would translate in another refugee crisis. But even before the explosions, it seemed inevitable anyway, so I'm left wondering why are we going back there like in the days of the protectorate.
