Am 200lb male, worn ex partners sun dresses plenty, want to get my own black one with pockets to go with my battle vest. No idea what size to try and look for. Having a pocket or two thats actually functional would be nice as well!

Women's sizes vary wildly between brands because of vanity sizing. It's all based on vibes not actual measurements like men's clothes. The best way to buy dresses is to grab two or three sizes off the rack and head straight to the changing room to see which fits. Back when I used to wear dresses I fell into a wide range of actual sizes.

    :jesus-cleanse:

also yeah you just gotta go out and look. some brands actually adhere to measurements whereas others just want you to feel like a tiny prissy princess and will lie about everything. like im a fucking size 0 for a lot of dresses, whatever that means. im definitely not 0 inches around. sometimes im like a size 2. whatever that fucking means

outlaw this nonsense and do a strict shoulder / waist / length of dress / bust/ length of sleeves measurement system. list ranges if its flexible. this is clothing communism

i only buy clothes online from brands ive already tried.

Vanity sizes are so obnoxious, and seem particularly more common with womens clothing but mens sizes can be all over the place too

I literally just try on everything and see at this point. I bought some womens pants the other day and I couldn’t even tell your the size I didn’t bother looking lol

though i do dislike it when people say my bras are 'vanity sized' like im trying to act like my boobs are bigger than they are. no, bitch, i just have an extremely tiny rib cage and surprisingly large boobs for my frame. it fits perfect. if i choose a higher band and thus lower cup size its all floppy.

believe me its almost impossible to find my correct size. almost no one carries 26/28 band size bras (yes I really am that fucking tiny) so I usually just end up wearing sports bras most the time. and i usually need DD or F cups. which again, almost impossible to find on size 26/28 bands lmfao

            tl;dr im a barbie girl

Bras (and bra sizes) are the worst! Back when I still had tits I wore a totally reasonable band size (32), but I needed FF or G cups. And those just purely don't exist in stores. The number of, like, 36DDs I've worn in my life that fit like absolute shit is too damn high.

Getting mad about someone else's bra size sounds like patriarchy shit.

What sappo said. And I'd add - maybe you could buy one online starting with googling dresses for men. I assume but I could be very wrong that Etsy has that as a category.

I have no idea how women shop for clothes online without going insane as they are forced to decipher an incredibly bizarre and byzantine sizing system.

Bit of a different color for a sun dress, black, isn't it? I guess my mental image has a pattern

I'm not really sure what to call it, id just like a light, flowly dress i can throw on on hot days to be cool, and put my denim vest over it for extra functionality.

Probably have the wrong nomenclature, but I'm just accustomed to wearing black. Feel like a jean vest over a black sleeveless airy dress would be good for summer, and get to show off the sleeve I've been working on.

A sun dress coloured black, or a black sun themed dress. This is important information

And everyone already made this joke. Anyway. Sadly we can't really tell you your size based on your weight. You need to measure yourself, then go shopping. (Which women do be
