It's awesome that we get to experience three of the worst presidents in American history in the span of four presidencies. Obama sucked too, but he sucked in the way Clinton sucked, a total middle-of-the-road status quo Democrat shepherd of the state. Solid #30-ish ranking of presidents. The other three are easily in the forties at this point, god fucking damn.

The next Republican that gets elected will absolutely be a dumber Hoover. It's gonna be so fucking bad.

The only promise we knew he'd keep. "Nothing will fundamentally change."

I mean we're seeing it right now with abortion rights about to be abolished.

The United States styles itself as the beacon of freedom when the majority of their "rights" are just polite suggestions that can be easily rolled back any moment :agony-shivering:

That's not really in effect anymore anyway, both because it's superseded by the 13th amendment and because it only applied to slaves in rebelling states, which there aren't any of right now.

But he could instruct the DOJ to unconstitutionally ignore the 13th amendment and probably get away with it.

Trump said to his team that they should just take the guns dont even bother with due process. Sure, they'd be taken to court but there are so many delays that most people would give up.

Trump had a better plan on the gun violence file than Biden, who seems to think saying his hands are tied will bring all these dead kids back to life given the frequency and vociferousness with which he's been saying it (he's otherwise been pretty absent for any announcements).

Trump understands power… I’m not entirely unconvinced the Jan 6 coup could have succeeded if he hadn’t hit the brakes at the last second

Does he? The guy regularly got lead around by the nose due to his addiction to mass media

What a fucking loser. Can't even do some symbolic bullshit. The Imperial Presidency has nearly unlimited power but this freak won't use it even when it could maybe save his party, and thus the country, from GOP Turbohell.

If you seriously take Kenny's position, Biden is still bad for not actually reducing the power of the presidency, just not using it. He could end the War on Terror tomorrow, giving Congress the power to vote on military interventions again. He could (not a good idea but he could) create more agencies and departments vested with presidential powers to deepen the Deep State. There is some drug war stuff he could unilaterally give up, reducing federal power.

Instead he's keeping the seat warm for DeSantis.

Trump in office: "he's going to single-handedly dismantle our democracy!"

Biden in office: "umm actually the president doesn't have any power sweaty"

Using power is authoritarian and therefore bad. What we need is a perpetual placeholder President. Someone who recognizes that he does not have the power to do anything his constituency asks for and only has the capacity to do Iran-Contra in Eastern Europe for the next four years.

He'll win the primary in a landslide because every other candidate on the stage is threatening to maybe try and do something.

lmao what other candidates? No one's going to dare run against the sitting president of their own party, even if his brain is a pile of mush.

          lmao what other candidates?

At least one or two vanity candidates or outright grifters. Even Obama '12 had a couple of token challenges.

I wouldn't be surprised if you had another billionaire run, just for starters. And Mayor Adams has already made some noise about running.

If he could actually do nothing by putting a stop to some of the crimes against humanity that the US keeps actively commiting that would be much appreciated. But I guess that would count as doing something, just like putting out a fire is doing something. Still, setting fire to things should also count as doing something, so if he could stop doing that... No? Ok then.

I don't think I feel any cognitive dissonance between "I love guns and wish more comrades had them" and "haha look at Joe Biden being useless"
