Change my mind.
Rocky :arm-R: having unnecessary sequels that ruin the point of the first movie :arm-L: Rambo
The intended point of the first movie is that those damn Vietnamese were savages for blowing up his military buddies (the monologue in the police station), and at one point he says they shouldn't have surrendered the war. Also respect the troops more.
The point we got was fuck the police and maybe don't do war so PTSD soldiers don't do an accidental domestic Gladio.
Demolition Man. Even if the movie wasn't good (it is) it would be worth it for the story of the rotting plastic nude Stallones.
The worldbuilding of that movie was both amazing and kind of accidentally accurate when it comes to what techbros think utopia looks like versus how it would actually fuck the disadvantaged, the dissenters, and the poor.
Right? Also the complete monopolization of mega corps from the "franchise wars" resulting with all restaurants being 'Taco Bell'. Honestly Demolition Man is probably more on point today then it was at release.
Edit: Oh, and how could I forget, the leader of the underground rebels against the techno utopian woke police is played by Denis Fucking Leary. Lol.
Aside from it taking like, a few decades for society to totally change and forget completely about current ideas like hitting people.
Stop or my Mom Will Shoot inspired an entire generation of old ladies to be sassy
Damn, we have an emote for Dukakis in the tank? What's next, Howard Dean yelling?
As far as I can tell, the closest we have is Dean Norris being sus :dean-smile:
First Blood, Cop Land, Bananas
Tango and Cash isn't a good movie by any means, but it's a ton of fun to watch.
I guess you could count Demolition Man too.
for real. First Blood is a legit flick. probably stallone's strongest, honestly. i didn't watch the original till i had already seen 2 and 3 as a kid. i saw 1 as a grown up and was surprised by its themes and the calm, slow burn style it uses to establish the conflict. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFGsa9TdEeo
love to see bullying pigs pick the wrong longhair to abuse.
Cliffhanger with John lithgow is pretty entertaining
Also wasn’t he in death race 2000?
I just watched cliffhanger last night and wanted to come in to say this. It was like snowy Rambo. I absolutely loved all the miniature special effects with models, as well as so much really feeling like it was filmed on a mountain or a well crafted set.
It felt so much more real than a movie filmed completely in green screen.
Lethal Games is about landlords hiring thugs to wreck a poor neighborhood so they can buy it up and turn it into a suburb. The cops are paid off too, so a group of women form a community defense militia and defend themselves from the capitalists.
It also stars Stallone. Frank Stallone.
YOU BETRAYED THE LOL! :volcel-judge:
