It would be hilarious if by some magical stroke of luck, the democrats some how gained big in the midterms. I would love to see them and "just vote" twitter try to rationalize a Dem majority doing nothing for another 2 years
In theory - what's the largest number they could increase their majority? I think it's five. Let's imagine they have a 55-45 majority and one new senators is Fetterman who said he wants to abolish the filibuster. Even then I don't think they kill the fucking thing. And they do nothing for another two years.
And they can't even pass funding for covid. We get a variant that's completely resistant to vaccines and the US is permafucked and some medical experts say we probably will eventually have at least another million Americans die of covid. The 2024 dem loses would be ginormous in free and fair elections but elections are the opposite of that. The "demogeddon" is arguably the worst loss of a party in any democratic country ever.
I can't shake the nasty feeling that if he wins - when he goes on MSNBC to have his first interview as a senator he already shows he has an advanced case of DC brain and he says "I believe we can reach compromise with our esteemed colleagues on the other side of the aisle..."

I hope Fetterman wins because I do want to see a sitting senator pick up an eat another sitting senator.

Sadly he's already tweeted stuff like that in the past couple years. Less lately, but he has those :brainworms:

NYC Dems failing to pass climate legislation with a supermajority for years, but on a national scale.
