I hated the discord. Honestly, I don't like Discord and i've been using IRC since 2003, so it's not like I don't understand online chat. There's just something about discord that bugs me but I can't put my finger on it.
Yeah discord fucking sucks. Chaotic and easy to miss stuff. I use slack a lot and even though it's the same concept (but :porky-happy: instead of :gamer-gulag:) it does not suck anywhere near the level that discord does
I use slack for work and discord privately and for my purposes discord is better. Better replying (threads have a place but not with boomers) and video and screen share integration seems to be easier.
That being said, the text chats in the chapo server are insane and impossible to keep up with. Idk if slack would be able to handle that any better though.

It's the fact that you can post vids and pictures, and they take up half the screen even if you don't open them.
So in a text-only client, what would have been 3 lines of text is now 3 tiktoks/gifs that in total take up 1.5 screens
It's also probably bloated and slow--I don't know enough about code to say that for a fact, but it definitely feels like something that would be way more bloated than it needs to be. I honestly preferred Skype in its early 2010s days.

It still exists afaik but I believe very few of the people that were around at the beginning are still in there.
i visited the discord (at least the chapo discord) several years ago, but it was way too online even compared to the sub or this site.
Do discord channels do automated cleanup? I don’t think I’m in it anymore. I have dead invite links though.
im still in it iirc. I didn't recognize it at first. changed name and channels.
