It had 2800 players average, which in my experience would put them at an active playerbase of around 35k-40k. They are doing shock content because their game is mediocre and the only way for it to get any attention is shock.

They should have just put it into maintenance mode and started work on their next title, half the industry won't touch them now.

    Obviously they're probably reactionaries too.

They'll chant "get woke go broke" until they're even more pink in the face than usual, though. :frothingfash:

I feel like it's just a given they're reactionaries; they made a SWAT clone called 'ready or not' like it's a fucking playground game. The gameplay kind of looks interesting because there's just nobody doing SWAT in the modern day, where you have to follow procedures and shit, but the really cavalier attitude to policing the name implies really turns me off

SWAT 4 really had a fairly "punishing" score system based on what actual good police work (in the situation, not like, societally) would be. You'd lose points for shooting people even if they shot first and to get a perfect score you basically had to arrest everybody, implying the very act of shooting somebody means you fucked up somewhere along the line.

I mean sure it's still a shoot the street level gangster simualtions if you want it to be, including gangster hunt gamemodes and such, but you literally couldn't progress to further levels if you went in guns blazing.

I thought the game was okay. My favorite thing was me and my buddies running in with essentially paintball guns and tasers trying to do a true pacifist run

Cop games like this are always kinda inherently reactionary insofar as they either reflect a whitewashed ideal or just end up being playgrounds for chuds to enact police brutality fetishes, but with Ready or Not the devs have flat out just decided to openly appeal to the chud gamer market with shit like this or going "Hell yeah theres gonna be a school shooting level" which is mentioned in the article too that that lost them their publisher.

Overall its like a solid 3rd place when it comes to reactionary advertising that I can recall, after the indie game run by some terf that made a 41% sale after people found out she was a terf, and after the time THQ Nordic decided to hold an AMA on 8chan(child porn 4chan) where they responded positively to every bigoted comment made.

Fascism is intentionally hard to define and vague, but I really think the common tie between every individual movement and medium they work in is the self destructive death drive. They physically can't handle when shit's nice for like five seconds. "My indie studio put out a 4/10 game and I got a modicum of success but I couldn't keep it together long enough to avoid putting in a map with the floor plan of Columbine High School" is such Million Dollar Extreme shit. You brought up 8chan, that's another perfect example of something that was a viable project for awhile, even if the primary use of the website was to complain about the age of consent, but they just couldn't help themselves and even among the right, the website's a fucking joke and nobody uses it anymore. They're not just losers, I don't think a fascist could be comfortable with not eating the biggest bowl of shit constantly.

I feel like there is some sort of overlap there with radlibs fetishizing failed revolutions/revolutionaries who were martyrs while denouncing successful socialist countries.

I mean, you don't even need to break out yellow Parenti when it comes to radlibs, I'd just look at who they call their heroes.

The late 40's/50's were a total betrayal of the working class. The "second" red scare was totally successful in destroying any institutional pull the left had up until that point, but you know who libs love from that era? Edward R Murrow. More so than anyone else, I hear him credited as the one who "ended" the second red scare which was bad not because it uprooted the working class from levers of power and left them to rot in the sun, but because they were attacking journalists and vague liberal perceptions of civil liberties. He got a drunk from Wisconsin to shut up for two seconds after he achieved everything he wanted to do, congratulations, Quik Trip cashiers have to do that every day. Journalism was and still is a fucking joke, your civil rights still don't actually meaningfully matter, even on his own terms his freaking epic speech ultimately didn't matter because it couldn't reckon with the fact that capital is fundamentally perverting our society into a living hell. It's the same with RBG, and Fauci, and Warren, and the Squad. They don't want success, they just want to be in the right when they fail, because anything further would force them to reckon with the fact that they might actually prefer the 4th Reich.

its petty bourgeois mindset. They are blinded by bourgeois ideology and can only stumble around until they bring about their own ruin. The radlib wants the ideal revolution so they deny anything that would actually bring progress. The chud wants to become the big bourgeoisie but cannot maintain the niceties of the liberal bourgeoisie so they are unpalatable to the market.

edgy comedy group that started with a broad following because they were actually funny, got an Adult Swim sketch comedy show, became more explicitly fascist, got their show cancelled, and broke up. basically what people who hate cumtown think cumtown is. Sam Hyde is the guy all the fans flocked to because he's the most visible public figure and the most dedicated dickhead, i've heard the other two aren't as shit.

I used to support this game because I was tired of all the arcade shooters. Even with all the mass shooting levels I thought it’d be neat. But then they dropped their early access for multiplayer a few years ago and it made me lose all faith in the game lol. Not to mention they spent a lot on licensing the official names for weapons and gear which is just sad lol

I'm definitely not the intended audience for 99% of sports games for a similar reason: I have no interest in up to date sports statistics or player rosters or team franchises. I'd enjoy sports games more if they did more weird stuff, like Basewars or Mutant League Football.

imagine playing a soccer game where players aren't called Bobson Dugnut or Hans Schmeichel

I remember being blown away by a college football game I played, I think on the original XBox, when I gave my team a unique name and they actually had a voice line for that particular name. Imagine the wild stuff you could do with procedural generation, deepfake voice lines, an AI art program making player faces, etc if you wanted to have an in-depth sports sim that really focused on creating a team instead of just playing as an already existing one.

Gun likeness licensing must be all kinds of weird anyways. Even Ready or Not has a G36C, named as such, but then also a bunch of other weapons that are clearly identifiable but given a bullshit name.

I mean CoD had the QBZ-95 / Type 95 named as such, did Norinco go like hell yeah go for it my dudes on that one?

Most of the audience isn’t even going to notice as long the general details of the guns are laid out. Like everyone knows what an AK looks like. No need to copy the exact bolts and stamps to match an existing trademarked model lol. Or do, but say fuck it if the sue you

In December 2021, the developer stopped working with publisher Team17.

It did not say why the companies agreed to part ways, but the split happened days after the developer said a future mission would depict a school shooting situation.

The thing about making any kind of media in the US, but especially shooters, and especially realistic shooters with contemporary settings is that you always gotta check that calendar buddy
