I've had RAM die before with similar-ish effects. If you've got any compatible memory around, see if changing it does anything... Try shuffling through the slots too

    Good luck, this sucks

        DDR3

        oh hi, are you me

If it's a kit, good chance only one is faulty and you can just pull one for the time being. Gotta deal with half the capacity tho, but it should at least be usable? :shrug-outta-hecks: If it's not a kit I've got nothing

            :this-is-fine:

All things considered it's probably the cheapest part to fail so there's that I guess

Other than going single stick (if that's even an option with your setup) - maybe you can salvage some ram from friends or family or even some e-waste/recycling dumpster? I don't know your situation but there's bound to be some ddr3 around somewhere in unused or defunct machines. It's far from ideal of course but it could keep the rig running until you upgrade

I spent a month tearing my hair out because my computer suddenly started running like shit and I couldn't even play trash games anymore and it seemed like no matter what I did, no matter how many optimizes I did or virus scans, it felt like it was intentionally running caping everything at a 10 fps.

Then in desperation I unplugged by laptop to see if there was any battery consumption settings effecting it and I figured it out. So it turns out Dell handicaps your CPU usage if you do not have the correct cable plugged in, ie if your power cable is old and worn out it will not recognize it as an official cable. So a month of driving myself insane when the solution was to unplug and press the cable in firmly until it recognized it.

But otherwise it seems like something hardware related is failing, computer shit sucks dealing with

This is similar to a problem I had last year. It turned out the BIOS chip on my motherboard fuckin died, but that board had two so I was able to switch to the second one and it’s been chugging along since.

I don't want to alarm you, but this could be the signs of a failing motherboard :bordiga-despair:

If its is the motherboard, and your PC is a prebuilt, don't even bother. just start saving up for a new PC now because it'll be a huge clusterfuck to try and get a new mobo in there. If not it'll be a fairly cheap (but annoying) repair.

GPUs do fail sometimes. I wouldn't discount that idea. I've had it happen before. Try booting without the GPU.

When it doubt pull everything, keep one ram stick and boot off a USB if you can. Then slowly add more till it fails.
