Ohhhhhh hey, wow!!! Yours is supposed to be the standard issue experience for reading Nevada, yeah :) It was also the first time I read anything queer & trans, except I was 15 years old when I read it which was awesome. I don't meet that many people who have read it!
Yeah well the dominant narrative is that Symphony good and everyone loves it, but it boggles my brain how Symphony screws up backtracking/exploration that both System Shock and Resident Evil handled with more grace years prior.
I will say you are spot on with the mist/wolf/bat stuff…I never liked any of that. It’s nothing like Metroid power-ups, which are relevant from the point you get them to the end in all kinds of fun and novel ways. The animal transformations are just pointless; you never use them after their road blocks, not really.
I had to be…gosh I was 22 when I read Nevada for the first time, in 2014. Those were my baby trans years. I’m so happy for younger people who get to figure themselves out much sooner than I did. Being a sorta-elder trans rules; I am entering my milf era as we speak. (can you be a milf without kids? is that just a cougar…whatever)😎
The modern Castlevanias would continue to feature pointless powers like this going forward, such as the box pushing in Circle and the touchscreen bs in Dawn, which bugs the hell out of me. Maybe Metroid is cool...
Nice! And yeah, I'm incredibly lucky and thankful, in ways things are getting better. (Also you can totally be a milf without kids )
