Contrary to the plans the Washington Post had made, democracy died in broad daylight.

I'm actually surprised at how much faster the US is taking towards the steps of balkanization. I was always under the assumption that it would take several hundred years before it seriously happened, but stuff like this is only going to create more of a cultural divide.

Yo we just went back 50 years in a week. It is absolutely mind blowing how quickly shit can go down, the only thing keeping my mind together is theory at this point.

I don't think the state is the only one capable of getting shit done this quickly. I think when the people rally it will also have a similar pace.

But I think, or hope, that the correct direction happens quicker when we are there.

I'm not sure how many people out there feel like I do right now, but I know I'm not a lone in it. And I think that is something to feel

We are fucked if shit goes down now. Best case scenario, a bourgeois revolution where we don't die. Most likely scenario: systematically killed a la Indonesia in 1965. We haven't armed, there are very few of us, and we're not organized or embedded in communities that trust us, generally speaking. We need to reverse all of those things ASAP in order to avoid this.

Don't organize for revolution. Organize for surviving the cool zone.

Whom amongst us doesn't put a member from the enemy faction you just fought a massive 5 year long war against as your second in command in the critical recovery period?

WHAT COULD GO WRONG? I BET NOTHING! :jokerfied:

Yeah but they also need the federal gov to tax the blue states and keep the red states above water. So they can't just impose a jeffersonian model they need to form a power bloc over democratic states.

Nah. They're not that smart. They'll use dems respect for institutions to increase the tax birden on blue states. The trick is to stop the dems losing faith in federal institutions even when they're about as useful as the Roman Senate in 600ad

Balkanization will come from blue states trying to not get fucked by this stuff and trying to get away with running themselves more like, well, full-blown states. Red states will press the nationalism button to try reigning them in, driven by a risk to the national economic base to which they cater.

But conditions will need to deteriorate a lot more for that to happen.

Why would Texas balkanise? This move helps to lock in GOP control of the presidency. You don’t need to flee the federation if you can control it.
