everyone i've met who's been in the army is happy to announce that they think the empire was unequivocally the good guys in star wars
granted i haven't met that many, but they all had a very hobbesian view that leviathan is necessary to maintain peace and order, mixed in with hiroshima apologia, "the destruction of alderaan was good actually if it hastens the end of this bloody civil war the galaxy is in" kind of thing
That's wild. Just wait until you tell them it doesn't matter how big the bombs get, it has no impact on the decision to end a war.
Anyone who thinks we're not the bad guys has replaced their brain with funkopops.

"If you think about it, the rebels were really terrorists and the Jedi were religious extremists!"
Looking forward to a truly "only in America" moment when the only pushback they face for this is a copyright complaint from Disney
The "temporary" port that will absolutely be used to transport aid and will absolutely not be used to exploit offshore oil reserves.
"... I mean... While we're here, it sure would be a waste not to..."
The Mandalorian armor speaks volumes, too. Cool revanchist death cult!
to be fair even the other mandalorians consider the death watch to be fucking weirdos
Really quiet sad honestly, one of the most prominent symbols of hope and progress a corpse in the mud.
Being trampled by imperial troops…. Holding Israeli rifles.
The mouth is a source of disaster? Introducing Japanese Proverbs
Direct translation: The mouth is a source of disaster
Meaning: you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.
Example: Better not say everything you think. You always make them angry. Kuchi wa wazawai no moto dayo.
Romaji: kuchi wa wazawai no moto
Word: kuchi (口)= mouth, wazawai (災い)=disaster, もと (元)= source
Thats a Chinese proverb imported to Japanese actually
People also colloquially add "Sickness enters from the mouth" to "Trouble comes out from the mouth"
I like how the Rebels show introduces the Imperial March in a major key as a diegetic piece of music in the Empire's propaganda (it comes back in Solo, too).
I hate the prequels as movies but I really like the presentation of how their galactic society collapses. It's one of the clearest examples in media showing how liberal democracy neatly folds into becoming fascism using all the tools of liberal democracy itself. Lucas isn't a great moviemaker, and also he's sometimes a weird pervert, but I think he understands what liberalism is and what it does.

The metaphors will get more direct until revolutionary consciousness is improved.
The police in Australia did a PR photo with people in Star Wars cosplay one time.
