2010s cartoons were all about characters struggling to learn empathy, if they don't make mistakes then the shows would be over after season 1 (didn't watch regular show)

In gravity falls there's this big arc where Dipper (main boy) convinces his crush to break up with her toxic bf but quickly learns that being a better person than the ex doesn't give him the right to be her boyfriend and they never get together

Yup and also another episodes that gives him a similar taste of what it's like dealing with an even younger crush (he legit is like "oh wow that's bad and I need to stop doing the same to Wendy").

He actually goes back in time 10 years and meets Wendy, he gets to see the exact same thing with the age difference going the other way. By that point in the show all the tension is gone and they are able to work together and be honest with each other, it's a good arc

The clip is funny, he was pretty much over it but he really comes to terms with why he was wrong https://youtu.be/5p3SekdtKxw

Yeah I honestly love Dipper and his development over the show (kinda wish they gave the same to Mables instead of rushing it for the finale though I still like how they addressed her own insecurities here and there).
