Major CW for some truly vile shit including sexual assault threats, enbyphobia, and other generally horrific reactionary seething from a supposed socialist.

I dared to mildly criticize Chapo in the most recent /r/bwf comments for purposefully misgendering Ezra Miller and my notifs have been filled with some pretty remarkable stuff for the past 2 days. The worst of it came from this supposed trans sex worker. I’ve blocked my own username for privacy. For context, I am also trans and mentioned that I have done fs sex work.

Oh I saw that comment thread, that shit was awful. It really does feel like gender when your trans is totally provisional and cissies, even nominally socialist "allies", get to just withdraw that from us whenever they feel like we crossed a line.

What Ezra did was awful. I guess it's a good vibe check for how seriously culture takes transness when awful people are also trans. Reminds me of people who call black criminals the n word and say they don't "deserve" the respect of not having a hateful slur thrown their way.

All the good chapo posters came here I guess. What remained was our gross outer chrysalid stupidpol and infrared style people.

So many people in there trying to build a dumb “why show them any respect with pronouns if they’re bad people lol” argument immediately freeze up and stop responding when you simply ask “do you purposefully misgender Caitlyn Jenner.” the Chapo enbyphobia is finally bubbling to the surface

What’s crazy to me though is that this shit came from a trans person. Her replies to me in the thread (before she deleted them) were also awful and these dms are borderline psychotic

I’ve unfortunately seen more than a couple trans people on social media who basically deny the existence of non-binary people, and almost take NBs existing as an attack on their trans-ness

        It’s gross

Just the next frontier once TERFdom falls out of fashion.

There's always another group of people to vilify if you're willing to look hard enough.

I've used this as an argument to get people to check themselves before they intentionally misgender shitty trans people but it would not surprise me if some of them genuinely think it's okay to slur other minorities when someone is a terrible person

It’s literally a common phrase I heard in my shitty rural hometown growing up. “There’s a difference between a black person and a n*****.” The implication being black people are only allowed to exist if they assimilate into white culture and also never break any laws or social norms or do literally anything to draw attention to their existence.

There was a whole Chris Rock stand-up routine around it. Chappelle and Key&Peele have echoes the sentiment more recently. One reason why 80s/90s comedy and its consequences resulted in such reactionary trash.

The lesson of the era was that you could just reframe bigotry as immorality or criminality and make it ok, again. So the white working poor became White Trash, unemployed black people were re-christened n-words, migrants who couldn't speak English were labeled a host of slurs, anyone without a college education and a white collar job was de-humanized, teenagers were de-humanized, the LGBT community was de-humanized...

At its worst, it doesn't matter if you do adhere to all the social norms. You're just disguising yourself so you can stab the Righteous People in the back as soon as their guard is down. So everyone always has to constantly be on the look out for people overstepping their caste.

I think there’s definitely a conversation to be had about the way Ezra cynically uses queer identify to shield themself from criticisms of their behavior that could be described as toxically masculine, as somebody pointed out in the original bwf comment thread. does that convo need to question or deny their identity, of course not

I've never had good experiences with truscum. Fuck Ezra but using their pronouns as a political weapon legitimizes using pronouns as a political weapon for all of us. These people love talking about "image" until they have to deal with the fact that we're never going to be good enough for cis people in a capitalist society. They're already in the process of throwing us under the bus.
